3  His and hers cabled hats in Knitting: Completed Projects by miyoko79 on: September 29, 2009 06:22:55 PM

For my host parents in Tokyo, who I will be visiting this fall after 8 years. I lived with them for my senior year in college, and it gets very cold there in the winter!

Knitted in Vanna's Choice on size 9 circs.

4  My Christmas scarf in Knitting: Completed Projects by miyoko79 on: August 30, 2009 09:05:15 AM
It's my Christmas scarf because I started it on Christmas day, and finally finished it last week:

Knitted with four skeins of Vanna's Choice (got all four for about $5!). I made up the pattern as I went along.

5  My first sock - thank god I don't have to knit another! in Knitting: Completed Projects by miyoko79 on: December 21, 2008 07:47:25 PM
I don't think socks are going to be my thing:

I knit this stocking for my boyfriend, and it's so big and goofy looking!  Plus now that it's stuffed, it's too heavy for the hook so it's really just sitting on the shelf.  I used good old Red Heart Super Saver, and winged the pattern.  From top to heel is about 15 inches.

6  Cabled scarf in Knitting: Completed Projects by miyoko79 on: December 20, 2008 01:19:32 PM

Not terribly exciting, but I was excited to figure out how to knit cables with purled spaces in them.  I knit the scarf using Vanna's Choice in Eggplant (it's a bit warmer purple than it looks in the picture) using 9's, and it came out to just about 2 skeins.  It's a Christmas gift for my cousin, who is a freshman in college in Minnesota - I figure an extra scarf won't hurt her Smiley

7  Dollar Store Shawl in Knitting: Completed Projects by miyoko79 on: November 14, 2008 06:27:58 PM

About 60" across the top, knit from this Lion Brand pattern using 3+ balls of Paton's Divine that I got at THE DOLLAR STORE!!! Hooray for bargains!!!  (I bought 10 skeins, now to figure out what to do with the rest!)

It's quite fluffy and warm, and is going to my great-aunt who lives on the Oregon coast Smiley

8  DNA Scarf in Knitting: Completed Projects by miyoko79 on: August 30, 2008 09:29:53 PM
I made a DNA scarf, using some Lion Cashmere Blend I got for 65% off, and this cable pattern: http://www.twosheep.com/helix/Helix5.pdf

I started it last fall when I was feeling very unhappy, and put it down for almost a year.  Now I'm quite happy and quite finished, and planning on giving it to the new boyfriend for his birthday Smiley  I bought 6 balls of yarn and only used 4 for the scarf, so I think he's going to get a matching hat as well!

9  Basket-style handbag with bamboo handles in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by miyoko79 on: January 16, 2008 07:12:40 PM
For my mom's birthday, I made a purse using fabric my grandma sent from Japan:

It looks a little lumpier in the photo than it does in person!  It's got a navy blue lining and magnetic snap.  I got the pattern here: http://www.u-handbag.com/index.php?main_page=news_manager&pages_id=2 (scroll down to the bottom of the page).

I skipped reinforcing the bottom, and they didn't have any bag feet when I went to the store.  So it ended up being a pretty quick project!  I hope she likes it.

10  Re: Blue Totoro, with pattern. in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by miyoko79 on: December 13, 2007 04:28:14 PM
I started one for my cousin for last Christmas, got sidetracked, then started a new one for this Christmas:

Thank you, Angry Angel, for posting this pattern.  $ is tight this year and you made it possible for me to give a rocking gift Smiley
