1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: What to make a mom who wants "nothing really..."? on: November 27, 2006 12:09:07 AM
When I was a kid I would ask my mom that question "What would you like for chirstmas?" and she would say always "I don't know." And since I was a kid and didn't have that much money what I would do is take something that she already owns, wrap it up and give it to her.

This year I was thinking about doing the same thing with one of her book-boxes, but put pictures of myself and my siblings with cards for her. She likes to scrapbook, so it'll be fun.
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / The Brooklyn Fields -ahem- EXCLUSIVE collection! (IMAGE HEAVY) on: February 09, 2006 01:40:14 PM
 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

After a couple of tries (and way too much failures) I finally finished my first line of jewerly! I fell in love with many different stlyes that I saw on TV and on the website Urbanoutfitters (http://www.urbanoutfitters.com).

So anyway, to make a long story short, my mother gave me a huge box of old beads and necklaces and said that I can do anything I wanted with them. So I thought to myself : Hmm... Dull and drab + Brookyln Fields Pizzaz = Perfectly Fab!!!  Grin

So here's the first that I made.

The Brooklynn Fields Love bracelete was made especially for Valentines day. The pink beads are shiny and have something like a pearly - glow I guess. You can't see it, but on both sides of the pink beads are small golden separaters that give the whole bracelete a unique vintage look.

The heart in the center was something found on a keychain in a lost in found bin! Its surrounded by a cute metal border and in the center are some words written in french but in the dead center it says 'NATASHA'. And completing this description - on the back of the heart is another cute heart design.

The Brooklyn Fields Snow White bracelete is made of special beads made out of little strings glued around it. It also has the golden separaters that The B.F Love bracelete has and the clasps are pure sterling silver. Its a little loose when you put it on, but it goes perfect with that outfit to wear at a dance, a wedding or even to give to that special someone.  Wink

Made out of the same velvety beads as the B.F. Snow White bracelete, the Brooklyn Fields Opera Twilight choker is one of a kind! Rescued from a horrible fate in the recycling bin, the pendent in the center is made out of metal with decorative gems in the center to resemble a beautiful flower!

Its just perfect to wear with that little black dress or to complete a spooky gothic ensemble!

And finally, the Brooklyn Fields Marshmallow Delight necklace is just a wonderful piece.

It looks a little bit loose. Truth be told this was my first time making a necklace in that design, it took about an hour to make and I just love the results!!!

The Marsmallow Delight fits perfectly around your neck and the loops lay comfterbly in place and with a strapless black shirt, will flatter the neck and also the lucky person who is wearing it! The loops go around the and end at the clasps at the end of the necklace.

So thats it. Thank you so much for taking the time to check these out. They are for sale if you are intrested (if you like the marshmallow delight, I might have to re-do it again). Thats all the time I have for right now, soon I'll be presenting the Brooklyn Fields P.Star earrings so look forward to those!!!

(After reading everything I came to the result that I sound like an announcer for the price is right . . .)

6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: Should I be annoyed? on: January 08, 2006 11:41:41 PM
That reminds me of how I started selling my first craft items. People would look at me and my stuff and say: "I can see this for sell somewhere else and much cheaper than what your asking for." All I did back then was laugh and say: "Well my things are made with love. So there." I didn't get all the costumers, but I still managed to gain respect for my crafting.

Its perfectly normal to feel a bit annoyed and irked at people who don't have the same passion as we all do when it comes to crafting. And when those people try to out - do you with crap made of cheap things, just keep reminding yourself that you make things ten times better than that.

I myself had my handful of people who were like that. But all it was convince me to work even harder. And now I have a successful store. I'm proud of it but I still get the people who walk in and pretend to know everything when they really don't.

Just keep it up, don't let it get you down, ok? Go ahead and be annoyed, just don't let it stop you from crafting, mmk?  Wink

faethany --

San Diego you say? I have family in San Diego! The Mexican side of me.  Grin I love the sound of your itty-bitty business, especially the fact that some of the money goes to poor, homeless children. When I start my own business I'm thinking of having a certain percentage of each sale go to the charity of the buyer's choice. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Laney. I appreciate it! <3

BTW - - - Is it allright if we invite some people who aren't on the list? There's someone I would like as a penpal but I just saw that the person isn't on it.

Is it too late to sign up???

My name is Alison (but I prefered to be called Ali) and I live in San Diego, CA about 10 minutes from the US/Mexico border.

I'm 19 years old and I LOVE crafting. I'm always up to try something new and just recently some friends and I started an itty - bitty buisnesss called ARROW GIRL. Its been really fun so far and a chunk of our money goes to poor, homeless children in Mexico.

I really like to craft, but other than that I also surf, skate, and play basketball when I have the chance. I'm working on my photo degree so thats fun and next year I'm going to be moving up north near Santa Clarita to go to Master's College.

Did I say too much? Man, how embarrasing if this is late and I'm kicked out. Sad
