1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Family Gifts on: November 26, 2007 07:26:41 AM
Does anyone else here do one gift for a whole family? I cannot afford to buy every person in my distant family an individual gift, but I still want to give them something nice. I have heard of a "movie night" basket but I can't think of anything to make it unique. I want it to be obvious that it was made  for them and not just bought at the store. I'm not married to the movie night idea so any other good ideas will be welcome. Thanks
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Cousin wants lumber for Christmas? on: December 15, 2006 06:58:08 AM
My family swaps names for Christmas. Each person is supposed to write down a couple of suggestions for what they might like. My husband draws the name of my 17 year old cousin, who asks for lumber. Undecided  From snooping around a little I find out it is because he wants to build like a trebuchet or something like that. So I thought We'll get him a gift card to Lowe's or something because I can't really see fitting lumber under a tree. I hate the idea of getting a gift card though. Does anyone have any ideas of what I could put with the card so it's not so impersonal. I was gonna get a book on the topic but he apparently has his info already.
