1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / candle makers out there? free stuff! on: May 01, 2008 09:48:20 AM
(sorry if this isn't the right topic, but there must be some candlemakers out here somewhere!)

i am moving and am determined to get rid of half my stuff.  i have a box of wax - most of it clear/uncolored, some colored, some wick supplies as well.

if you live in the st. paul/minneapolis area and are willing to come get this box (i live in st. paul (highland)), it is yours for free - the first one to PM me gets it.

3  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / UPDATE: FABRIC GONE! free fabric to good home (st. paul, minnesota area) on: April 17, 2008 10:19:47 AM
hi quilters!

i'm a former sewer, now a knitter (sorry!) and i have quite a bit of fabric i just have to get rid of, to a good home.  i am moving out of state and i have vowed to decrease the amount of stuff i take.  i live in st. paul, minnesota, and would love to meet up with someone.  these are mostly decent sized pieces of fabrics, some are scraps, some are full pieces i bought and never used.  mostly cottons, i think, probably most good for quilting.

anyway, message me, this will be a "who contacts me first" thing.

thanks!

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Wings on my Back ***Edited to add TUT*** RE-EDITED TO ADD CHARTS*** on: March 14, 2008 03:11:37 PM
i am really late to this party but this is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC and i will start this the moment i finish the other sweater i'm working on (Vogue Knitting Russian Coat).

I have a tattoo on my back which pretty much looks exactly like the wings on the sweater (even the size), so it was meant to be.

THANK YOU THANK YOU for sharing your pattern, I can't wait to get started!!!

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / "Knitting With Balls" errors? on: November 05, 2006 06:52:28 PM
anyone found out any info about errors in the new book "Knitting With Balls"??  a friend of mine is trying to make the cabled socks and having a bitch of a time.  several accomplished knitters have looked at the pattern and we can't figure out the problem.

any suggestions?

thanks!!
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Heere Be Dragon Shawl on: September 28, 2006 05:42:00 AM
it's a fantastic and very involved pattern ... Sharon (the designer) is very nice and very fast to respond to emails.  the pattern costs $12 directly from her.

there is also a knit along at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dragoneKAL/

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Decreasing with Circ needles? on: September 20, 2006 12:12:53 PM
you can switch to DPNs, or learn the two-circular method for knitting in the round, or learn magic loop.
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / kermie cardigan finished! on: September 20, 2006 11:57:47 AM
i finished a project as a gift for my aunt, all it needs is a zipper.

it's a Knitting Pure and Simple pattern, the Bulky Neckdown Cardigan.
the yarn is Shaefer's Elaine in the Kermie colorway.  love this yarn.

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Anyone tried KnitPicks Options interchangeable circular needles? on: August 23, 2006 06:16:06 AM
i am an Addi Turbo lover and LOVE my Knitpicks Options set.  i bought the longer cords as well.  i was also bummed they don't have a 16" cord but other than that, i have little negative to say.  the tips are wonderful - nice and pointy.  i've not had a single problem with anything catching.  a good friend of mine did the ultimate test on hers when she first got them - knit laceweight mohair on size 5.  she was thrilled.

i did read one blog talking about the weight of the needles, but to be honest, i don't particularly notice the weight.

and last but not least, i am a former Denise owner and these are a MILLION times better.

two thumbs up!
