So I recently got into both wet and needle felting and wanted to show off some of my work. First off is a vintage inspired pillbox hat with an orchid "flower spike" on the side. I made this to show at my local orchid show.
Here is a close up of the flowers on the side. I am especially fond of the second to the bottom that is made to look as though it is in the process of opening.
And the front
Secondly, a felt fedora. They sell fedora blocks online, but I was unwilled to shell out 30 bucks so I ended up buying one of those cheap plastic hats from a local costume shop. I covered to whole thing in duct tape to reinforce it and shoved an old sweater inside. After making the basic felted shape I did the final fulling on top of the block with just tons of hot soap and water. A bit of blue velvet ribbon, a gold vintage button, and a peacock feather and I have myself a feminine version of the classic Indiana Jones hat
Side with all the goodies
