I received earlier in the week from Alterknitive.  This lovely lady from across the pond definitely spoiled me! She sent me a crochet market bag and a kerchief.

And here is a shot of me enjoying my gift:

Wow! The photo you took of the flower really shows the color well. And yes, I did use some salvaged sari silk yarn. Here's a before picture of the treble clef.

And Ffrogg526's additions to my little circus elephant will be hard to beat.

Isn't it freakin' precious?!? I sent her a photo copy of the vintage elephant pattern so she could see the original umbrella is held in its trunk.  I had no idea she would go so far as to add some of the other circus animals in the pattern. Very bright, cheery, and dimensional - just what I wanted.

3  Re: Frugal Living swap-round 6: Dance on Down to Frugal Town! in The Swap Gallery by SlickMariaVic on: August 21, 2014 06:07:56 PM
I received today! I have no idea how she managed to fit soooo much goodness into one size 8 shoebox.

Cloths, with corners flipped so you can see both sides. Here we have:
  • 8 reversible napkins
  • 6 scrubber cloths
  • 6 unpaper towels
  • 4 small cloths

Bags n' such:
  • 2 reusable bags made from pillowcases
  • 2 dryer balls
  • 2 produce bags (large and small)
  • 1 hanging circular needle organizer for my closet

And just to show you how practical these items are here are some action shots of several pieces being put to good use.

Two unpaper towels used as a drying towel for dishes. Btw they have adorable coffee words printed all over them.

Napkins mixed in with some I already had nestled in a garage sale basket.

Thanks Monnie31 I know your gifts will help me save some sweet sweet cash.

Just because I took pictures before I shipped out...

 The bag cinched up

The bottom of the bag is a heavy, plastic plant saucer which is why is stands up on its own. I felted around the bottom and sewed the knitting onto it.

Wool dryer balls within needle felted accents. Only one ball has a a dragonfly, which was inspired by a tattoo on my partner's Pinterest account.

The tags which were made from paint samples

Now it is my time to share! I received my lovely skillet handles from Toralune this morning. I was blessed with four handles and I only have three skillets so it might be time to go shopping!  Smiley

All four

In action

Thanks bunches! They will definitely be used.

6  Re: One Tiny Bird Thing Swap (OTBT) GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by SlickMariaVic on: July 30, 2013 05:02:01 PM
I received my package from TheRagingSloth the other day but was out of town and unable to post pics.  The organizers did a great job of matching us up because we unknowingly made similar trophy heads.

I mentioned in my questionnaire that I wanted a zen-like feel to my package so TRS included an om sign for bird to hold. Cute!

Unlike my trophy,  this little bird was crafted out of paper mch and intricately painted.  The feathers on the head are also very clever; I believe they are made out of thread tied around wire and then solidified with glue.

Thanks everyone for an awesome swap!

7  Re: Shrine Swap in The Swap Gallery by SlickMariaVic on: June 20, 2013 08:56:00 AM
I received my two shrines from Blupaisan the other day.  The good news: the shrines were both very thoughtful and creative.  The bad news: one of the shrines was completely destroyed in transit.  Blu is kindly going to replace the damaged shrine so I will be able to post pictures later once I've received it.  Here's some pics!

Kwan Yin Shrine
This was the damaged shrine.  Blu had a really cool idea to make a paper doll with interchangeable arms!  All that remained unscathed is a set of arms.  The frowny face is my creative addition.  Cheesy

Kitchen Kitsch
A miniature kitchen tucked inside of a small ceramic pan.  Very clever.  The second picture shows the bent spoon handle.

I'm so happy the items I created fit your needs and style!  I really wanted to make the shrines as adaptable as possible that's why I didn't glue down the little vials and made it so items on the screen can be moved about.  BTW the picture you took of the screen shows it tied up.  I only did that for packaging.  Here's a pic I took of the screen before shipping it out:

I feel blessed knowing that something I created can bring you peace in difficult times.

9  Re: MYB Round 16 Gallery!!! in The Swap Gallery by SlickMariaVic on: April 30, 2013 07:57:01 PM
I received my MYB from lindyv321 yesterday and just got around to taking some pics. Prepare to be jealous!
The ball

The yarn Awesome Peace-Fleece yarn.  Patterns are "Dovetail" and "Treads".  I plan on casting on for the treads fingerless mitts tomorrow.

Goodies

Handmade goodies

Prayer flag I was bummed that I missed the prayer flag swap so I was so happy she made a flag for me!

Dog toys Lindy included some dog toys.  Here's an action shot of Stella enjoying herself.

I have been hesitant to join swaps because I've been let down in the past so it was nice to get back into the game.  Thanks lindyv321!

Sidenote - Lindy made me a pair of cute owl earrings.  It's funny because I work as a teacher in an Indian reservation and the natives are really superstitious when it comes to owl things.  They believe that if you see a white owl you will die. Soooooooo prob won't wear them to work but I will definitely wear them out.  Grin

My package arrived the other day, but I had to install my new camera so it took a bit to get everything ready to go.  I was definately spoiled!  Get ready for pic overload!

Handknit items! Letter M - Altered Marian Cowl in multiple colors Sender's Choice- a hat. It fits perfectly BTW.

Me sportin' the wears.  I really need to learn to crop my images so that y'all don't have to look at my clutter!

Something green- Green yarn and arm warmers Something recycled- an amazing clutch made of plastic bags it's even lined!

Something local - stitch markers influenced by the creatures off of the SC coast. I've been using scraps of yarn for far too long! Thanks!

Something dotted- mug rug and the tea in the previous picture. Something hard- knitting needles which have already made their way into my needle pot.
AND I SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST!!!!!!!!I wrote in my questionnaire that I grow carnivorous plants.  She made a cute little diorama of some killer carnivorous plants that are being attacked by the army.  She claims it was difficult to make the plants, but you would never know! This is going in my classroom Smiley

A shot with my plants

action shot!

Thanks again to Clumsy_Momma for the wonderful stuff!
