21  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Flowers, Butterflies and a Bird on: November 04, 2008 01:23:26 AM
I want to share some t-shirts I made.

This is one of my most favorite tops and the first one I made from scratch, using another t-shirt as reference.

Stenciled with bleach and highly inspired by kaffrin's butterfly top:

I didn't actually make the next two. I just embellished them.

handpainted flowers and embroidered stems:

I made this quilt as a Christmas gift for my brother in law and his pregnant wife!

The blocks were inspired by the "Tilting For Patch" from Quilterscache.

This is a mini christmas quilt I made for the stocking swap:

my swap partner Kookaloo_Starr took this picture where you can see the quilting more clearly:

I used this Pattern: http://www.quilterscache.com/C/ChristmasStar2003.html but with an other tree in the middle.

26  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / My very first piece of jewelry! on: October 15, 2007 11:54:19 AM
I joined the "Try A New Craft" swap and decided to learn making wire and beads jewelry.

I made this pendant as a practice piece before getting started with the swap items.

wire and a pink fresh water pearl

I got the inspiration from the wigjig website but I didn't use a jig.

I'm pretty happy with it. What do you think?

Edit: I finished matching earrings! They have dark grey fresh water pearls in the center.

27  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Laptop bags on: April 09, 2007 12:45:50 PM
My husband and I got new laptops at the same time and needed something nice and padded for them. DH wanted a bag/sleeve with a flap and I had a zippered one in mind. This way I ended up with two designs which I both like a lot (#1 and #2). I made some more as personalized birthday gifts for friends (one is a Linux user, the other one is going to Sweden).

28  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / ribbon embroidered felt bag *new bag on pg.2!* on: April 09, 2007 10:39:21 AM
I wanted to make myself a bag like that for quite some time but never got around to it. Then my aunt's 50th birthday was coming up and I needed a gift. I realized, that we like the same colors and style even though she's 25 years older than I am. So I found a new reason to make this bag. I first planed to add appliqued flowers, but then I found ribbon embroidery instructions I a book i bought recently. I decided to give it a try and I'm really happy with the results.

Hope you like it!

*EDIT: New bag on pg.2*
29  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Treadle machine - opinions needed! on: March 25, 2007 06:19:51 AM
I just heard that I could get an old treadle machine from my grandma in law. It's either a Singer or a Pfaff. I love those machines for the looks and I think they are highly reliable.

Now my question for those of you who own a treadle machine in addition to others. Do you use them or are they more of a decoration object. What do you use them for? I have a pretty new Brother NX650Q and I don't have the room for a machine that I don't use.

Should I get this machine?t
30  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Messenger style diaper bag (picture heavy) on: February 22, 2007 06:11:22 AM
A good friend of mine is having a baby in may and I promised to make her a diaper bag. I know it's a little early but I gave it to her as a birthday present. That way I can make something else for the baby! (I love to have lots of reasons to craft Smiley)

Here it is:

with matching changing pad (which I made out of a blue shower curtain):

there is one pocket on each side, one large pocket (for the pad) on the back and two slit pockets under the flap:

Inside picture: (four elastic pockets, one zippered pocket and a large pocket in front)

On each side I added a small strap with a hook and a d-ring to fasten the bag to the handle of the stroller.

I finished it last week (unfortunately to late for the bag challenge Wink) and mailed it to my friend a couple of days ago. I hope she receives it soon and likes it. She gave me no restrictions at all. The only thing she told me was that they have a blueish stroller.
