451  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Altoid tin theme swap on: February 08, 2006 11:11:41 AM

Smiley

Sure, Superdrug ought to have them or even a dedicated chemists like Pearls. Just mind you don't eat them without breathing in first, they're very.... pungent, kind of like swallowing a pill made of Vicks Inhaler.

I just couldn't stop smiling when I saw Nushy's earlier post about the *BNP (triple yuck) from the UK.

But altoid tins? The first I heard of them was here, on Craftster! You Americans....
.....
nushy xx

PS Eva, have you noticed a trend? I mean, this must be the third thread that we've taken over, talking about US/UK stuff...!
*British National Party.  Old white rascist men. Political party who still manage to get an unnerving amount of votes. Old white rascist men.

Nushy, I totally agree with you and think they should be put on island, then remembered we already are on one- with them Sad Can you believe the result of that court case?........... anyway... back to the tins:

I know you said you haven't heard of the 'Fisherman's Friend' earlier but they are available in any good chemists and seem to be the same size as the Altoid tin. I have a strong feeling from what everyone here says that they export these out as the Altoids brand in the states. Hmmm, maybe Fishermen aren't good marketing. Try a couple of high-street chemists and they ought to have it as OAP's seem to like them.

453  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Altoid tin theme swap (Signups 2/2 to 2/9; sendout 2/21) on: February 07, 2006 09:15:58 AM
Hi all,

Signed up a while ago, but finally started posting. The number of people I have recommended this site to, it's about time I participated with more than "wow that's impressive!" and "how did she do that?" at my pc screen!

I would really like to take part in this swap and for any other UK gals, I recommend the Fisherman's friend tins if you can't find Altoids

I want to sign-up for the next swap (surrey girl here) when I'm not so busy with work. Looking forward to see what everyone comes up with.

If someone is left suddenly giftless, I would be happy to be their angel, so list me for that heather

Lel, I think you do 'win' with that bag Smiley

Brena, you are such a good craftster, I think the bag is darling, black knit with pink ribbon, very nice combination. If there is another swap, somehow I hope I get you as a partner Smiley

both girls won with your thoughtful gifts Smiley How come it was x 2 from you?

456  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Folded Fabric Flower pin/hair clip tutorial on: February 07, 2006 06:01:24 AM
the flowers are beautiful :

I never thought I liked fabric flowers but am changing my mind...

msmeow, your second attempt with that one green was is pretty and classy at once.

spangle you have a good eye for colour and really made the simple shapes extra special. I can't decide between the blushing red and purple shades and the soft pink and white combination. Both are attractive and well done on paying attention to the colour of the button, it brings it all together nicely.

I hope I can attempt these sometime, can't sew but am willing to try Smiley
