Would you look at that! Not only a finished object, but a finished object that I absolutely love! I knit this with the Sexy knitters KAL. It was a simply delightful pattern to work, my first in lace, in fact. The pattern was easily memorized and was interesting yet mindless enough to knit while enjoying season 1 of Galactica on DVD. I used the rec'ed yarn, 4 balls of rowan 4-ply in a color most-not-me tutti-fruitti. But forget about how easy and fun it was to knit, how brilliantly simple the construction was, and instead just look how cute I look! hehe.
also, not to be a total attention hound, but I've got a new podcast! the link is in my sig! wanna listen?
Here's what my busy little hands did last night, orangina, for the sexy knitters KAL. I'm using, for the first time in my short knitting career, the rec'd yarn -- Rowan 4-ply cotton. The color is tutti-friutti and we'll just have to see about that. So far I love knitting it, it's my first lace, really. The stitch pattern in fun and easy, after 2 repeats I no longer needed to look at the paper. I've two concerns so far, one -- that although I purchased the right amount of yarn, I'll run out before I make it just a tad longer than the pattern calls for, and two -- that the lacework is open enough, pinkie's gonna make an appearance. Do other people wear something under this? Well, at least the colors are about the same, pinkie will blend.
I'm knitting a size small, which is a bust size of 36". I've always been about a 34" but lately I've had a bit of what I thought was heartburn but really was a too-tight bra, so now I guess I'm a 35". So I'm knitting a 36" but my guage is a bit tighter than the pattern's so it should (I hope, I hope) work out. I didn't want to cast on 9 more for the next size up because I thought that would be too big. Right now, with a CO of 112, it measures 17.5" inches, which would make it exactly 35" around. Should be perfect...right?
i'm knitting this right now! I love it! I've got the back, fronts done and am currently working on the hood (i changed the pattern a bit so that the shoulders are joined with a 3 needle bind off and the hood is picked up, the cable continued up around the hood without a bindoff). After the hood I've only got the arms left! oh, plus all the finishing and zipper - yikes!
i took a weekend workshop with lexi (pluckyfluff) and she's not only talented, but sweet as pie too!
as for me, this week my favorite yarn was this, which sold within minutes of my midnight saturday yarnshopupdate! I was kinda hoping it wouldn't, you know? my other favorites were sent off to a yarnshop today and sadly no pictures were taken. bah.
alrighty. I said I'd post pics and better late than never, right? a long skinny scarf i just knitted for a gift outta some very arty yarn with lotsa huge mohair cocoons, sparkle wads, cotton nubs etc.
there's a few more pictures of it and lotsa other stuff outta my own handspun here http://www.insubordiknit.com/knits/. The newest one I recieved is from amanda who just knitted a headband and scarf outta one of my favorite yarns -- flowers in the larder. they are lovely. Though the craziest yarns I've sold have yet to reap a picture, though everyone assures me they are on thier way, lol.
