31  Re: Easy Peasy 2 Swap Gallery!!! in The Swap Gallery by Haylie on: June 06, 2009 08:28:50 PM
Lovely pendant and that reading pillow is a great idea!  I may have to make my sister one for christmas. Smiley

Here's the delightful surprise I got from superhooker!!

Isn't he the cutest?!?  I just love him to pieces.  He doesn't have a name yet though.
Here he is listening to music...

And here he's surfing craftster!  He says I should send him on a Little Visitor swap so he can see more of the world than just Michigan!
(What, you don't personify your stuffed animals? Tongue)

Thanks again, superhooker, this has been a great swap!  Grin

Here's all my FANTASTIC stuff from sewkrafty!!

(She helped me upload some pix - yay!)

A necklace with amazing poly clay book charms (The "pages" are sparkly!) and an adorable Alice charm (Yay! Grin )
Wonderful poly clay apple earrings (perfect, since I'm going into teaching!  These have to be one of my favorite items)
Annnd a bracelet that says "MY CULLEN IS BETTER THAN BELLA'S CULLEN"  Grin Grin Grin  Love it!

But that's not all!  Sewkrafty also made me a terrific beret (it's so warm!) and a stenciled shirt that I LOVE!  It says "La Tua Cantante" on the front and has music notes and little sparkly hearts on the back!

She also made my sister a great keychain!

And here's me and my Cullen! (And my awful sunburned arm.  Embarrassed )

I love it all so much, sewkrafty, thanks!!  Smiley

35  Re: Hey Twilight fans, I need some advice! (If you're SEWKRAFTY, don't look!!!) in Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions by Haylie on: March 29, 2009 08:37:15 AM
Here's an update with what I ended up doing!

SEWKRAFTY, don't look! Smiley  She received! Cheesy

I did end up making something to hang on a wall, but probably not what most of you were expecting!  It could even be a bulletin board sort of thing.

AND, because I'm crazy, I made a second set of squares!  Here they are on the (unfinished and slightly blurry) bag.

And, just for fun, here's a picture of the other side of the bag!

37  Haylie & Taraliejesbri make thier first rainbow/MM fondant cake! in Dessert by Haylie on: March 28, 2009 09:26:48 PM
I've been looking at everyone's fantastic cakes lately, so my sister (taraliejesbri) and I decided to make our own!  I'd been wanting to try marshmallow fondant (followed this recipe) and rainbow cake (inspired by all the ones on here!) so we did both!

This was our first decorative cake of any kind, really, so we're pretty pleased with ourselves!  Cheesy

I made the little people out of fondant too.

Rainbow!  Grin

Action shot!

38  Hey Twilight fans, I need some advice! More pictures on page 2! in Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions by Haylie on: March 09, 2009 02:31:59 PM
This is for the Twilight Swap Rd. 6, so if you're my partner sewkrafty, please don't look!

Everyone else....

The Idea:

So I had this idea for the Twilight swap to recreate the four book covers in fabric and use them as part of a bag like this, with the four book-inspired squares being the four center patchwork squares.

The Problem:

The problem is that now that I have the fabric cut out I think I like it too much to put it in the bag!  I'm afraid the effect will be spoiled and too much of the pictures cut off once I sew them together and seam allowance comes into play (not really sure why I didnt take this into account in the first place!

The Alternatives

At this point, I'm thinking I'll either go with the original plan and sew the squares into the bag OR back them in some pretty fabric or paper and frame them.  But then do I make a bag anyway?  With duplicates of these squares or perhaps a stenciled version?  Or with just some embroidered quotes?  Are there any other options?

The Picture:

Thanks guys! Smiley

I'm so bad at this game haha - I make the stuff, but never manage to get the pictures up in time!

For Feb. I made a whale (from maddiekins tutorial) for my cousin Nancy!

I'm in love with him - he'll be tough to give up!  He's even cuter in person.
He likes craftster too! Cheesy
