31  Re: Verb Swap 2 Gallery! (Send by August 17) in The Swap Gallery by Haylie on: August 23, 2011 05:36:05 AM
Such a great package!  I love the sign & A. Log is so cute Smiley

ETA:  Now it's my turn to post awesome pictures!  Get your wisting and pinning links ready!  Grin

Sarabunny did an AMAZING job with my verb: to journey.  Fittingly enough, I had Sara mail the package to the hotel where I'm currently staying!

The first thing I pulled out of the box is possibly my favorite item from a swap - ever!  It's a beautiful travel embroidery kit!  The outside is gorgeous... I love love love the plane with the heart!!

But now look at the inside!  Sara thought of every detail!  There are scissors, a place to keep my thread... even a clear pocket for patterns... with a pattern in it!! Cheesy

The other thing in the box was this wonderful wooden suitcase box - with ginkgoes (which I love!) and a perfect Walt Whitman quote woodburned on it!  I can't believe you're new to woodburning, Sara, because this is gorgeous.  I love the paint accents too!

But, wait, if I open it up.... there's more!

A box, with a map of home Smiley

An adorable passport holder, with another cute heart!

TWO ID holders! Cheesy

And a magnet, charms, stationary, AND a book journal! Cheesy Cheesy

I LOVE EVERYTHING!  Verb swaps are always the greatest. Smiley  Thanks a million, Sarabunny - everything is perfect! Smiley

I definitely said thank you when I received, but I'm one of those bad children who has been a complete failure at posting pictures!  Major apologies go out to JustKat, who sent me a wonderful package!  I don't know why it was so difficult for me to finally get these posted - it's never been a problem before!  Embarrassed

JustKat spoiled me and made me so much!  It's clear she put a lot of time and effort into all this!

First of all are these gorgeous thread-wrap pendants!  I've never had one of these before and I love them.  You can see there's a chain on the blue one because I've already been wearing it! Cheesy

Here's another shot of it because I love it so much. Cheesy  Sorry the images aren't better - my regular camera broke, so I was using my video camera  Undecided

She ALSO made me this awesome washer pendant with pictures of birdies on it! Smiley  You can see the other side in the mirror.  It's a blue bird and a green bird, just like my blue and green parakeets! Grin

This is beautiful lace... I wish you could see it better because it's really so detailed and gorgeous!

But wait there's more!  This is GORGEOUS and my favorite thing of the group (I think - it's so hard to choose!)  The flower must have taken forever to figure out... this is definitely not something I could have made!

Thanks again, JustKat, you really went above and beyond!  Kiss

Round 1 -- Glass from Haylie

This is sooo gorgeous. My roommates were all in shock when I took it out of the box -- "Oh my gosh, it's like someone painted everything you like on a glass!" Yep, that's pretty much right. The design is totally rad, really striking while still being elegant and sophisticated -- and Haylie even sneaked a Fifth Element reference in there. I tried to photograph this a million different ways, but these are done with my camera phone, so none of them do it justice.

Thank you guys sooooo much! You guys rock and are both so talented!

I'm so glad you like it!!  It was so fun combining everything you like. Smiley  (It's etched right into the glass by the way - totally dishwasher safe; the design can't "come off") Grin

Also, I got my Round 1 & Round 2 packages!!  JacquelineD made me beautiful earrings and Ffrogg526 made me an ADORABLE crocheted snake! Pictures soon... I need to upload them on my other computer.

ETA: Pictures!

Here are the gorgeous earrings from JacquelineD!  They're green and gold & have an anchor - all to honor my sorority! Smiley

They look great on me too Grin  Thanks so much JacquelineD!!  They're fantastic. Smiley

And here is the cutest snake from Ffrogg526!  I've had this snake on my wist FOREVER... it was one of my very first favorite projects on craftster!

Isn't he a cutie?  I got spoiled. Smiley

He reminds me of the stuffed animal I've had since I was born - Froggy!  Don't they look like the best of friends?

Thanks so much Ffrogg!  Grin

37  Wedding Jewelry - Bride & Bridesmaids (Lots of pictures!) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Haylie on: March 12, 2011 10:48:16 AM
Here is the jewelry my grandma & I made for my August 2010 wedding.  We spent a whole day designing, shopping, and constructing!

First, my necklace, Swarovski crystals and pearls:

The small pearls are off my mom's wedding dress.

It makes me smile... I use pearls from my mom's dress & made it with her mom - it's like a three generational necklace!

We also made necklaces and earrings for each of my 4 bridesmaids, and slightly different ones for my two maids of honor (My CoMOHs!)
Bridesmaid necklace:

CoMOH necklace:

Finally, we also made a necklace for my husband's "groomswoman." The beads match the beads on her "wrist bout" (which you can see here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=375359.msg4425457#msg4425457

I always feel slightly awkward about posting wedding crafts... It's not that I'm showing off my wedding, truly!  I just want to share my crafts!  Embarrassed

Both garters:

Putting them on - I wore both all day!

The completely random guy who caught it (the other guys dodged! Cheesy)

And for fun - garter removal!  Shocked

39  Corsages & Bouts! (Many pictures!) in Weddings and Bridal Showers by Haylie on: March 12, 2011 09:11:35 AM
Here are the corsages and bouts I made for my August 2010 wedding!  Our colors were teal and ivory.

I made "mini" and "supermini" coffee filter roses for the corsages. They're small versions of the ones I had in the bouquets.  The wrist corsages had wrapped ribbon "bracelets" (is there a name for that part of a wrist corsage?) They were surprisingly easy to make! Smiley

My mom's: (and me making sure it's just right!  Roll Eyes)

My gram's:

My other grandma's... hers is twisted - you can see how it ties at the bottom

My MIL's:

My husband's grandma's:

Boutonnieres!  I didn't want to use my pink-tinted coffee filter roses for the bouts, so instead I used beads that complimented/matched those I used for the bridesmaid necklaces.  My original plan for attaching the bouts was to attach flat backed pins to the back, but that didn't work... I'll never know how they managed to attach them on the day!

The groomsman bouts:

The best man (my husband's dad) had a similar one with two leaves.

The grandpa bouts:

I think my dad's was similar, but with fewer beads.  I can't find a good picture of it.

I'm especially proud of the "wrist bout" I made for our groomswoman.  It's almost a small version of the corsages, but with black ribbon and beads that matched the male bouts.  I don't have many good pictures, but I was in love with it!  Cheesy

And just for fun, me and my hubby!  As you can see, he didn't need a bout! (Although I was sewing that gold hatband two days before the wedding!  Tongue)

Thanks for looking! Smiley  If anyone is interested in knowing more about how I made the corsages/corsage band, I'd be happy to help!

40  Re: mom corsages? in Weddings and Bridal Showers by Haylie on: March 11, 2011 05:09:31 PM
I love the ribbon rose idea.  I made wrist corsages with wrapped ribbon... (My sister called these my "crafter hands" haha)

Mine was with coffee filter roses, but I'm sure it'd be lovely with ribbon roses!

I'd be happy to try to find the tutorial I used for the wrist part/ make a new tutorial, if you're interested!  I searched forever to find one I was happy with.

PS - I had a flowerless wedding too! Cheesy
