21  Re: Haylie's DIY Wedding Projects! (8-27-10) in Weddings and Bridal Showers by Haylie on: February 22, 2010 01:35:09 PM
Here's some in-progress shots of the coffee-filter roses!  They're a lot of work, but so worth it.  My mom & my sister/Co-Maid-of-Honor have been cutting out rose pieces like crazy and I've been putting them together & painting them every chance I get!

From left to right: an unpainted rose, still wet, dried & curled

And a partial bouquet!  Co-MOHs and BMs will have 10 roses each; I'll have 20 in mine.  I'm also planning on adding crystals a la Sweets4ever's bouquet.

I just ordered our Save the Dates a minute ago!  We're getting them from Sam's Club - 38 cents each.

They're FAR greener on here, I don't know why... They're more blue in real life.  Fiance & I designed them in photoshop last night.  I'm really happy with them!  I'm hoping to use the C & H in other wedding crafts as well.

Here's the WONDERFUL package I got from mandys08! (Sorry pix took so long - crazy weekend!)

First, an awesome "Cocky" picture frame with pictures from the show!  All the pictures have Bones quotes on the back! Grin

Next, a jewelry box covered anatomical pictures and more wonderful Bones quotes!! Even the bottom of the box is covered and decorated!  In the box was my very own Smithsonian Anthropology Unit access pass - amazing stalking, mandys08 - That's my facebook profile picture!  Shocked

And finally, best of all: BONZIE!  A crocheted (right?) skeleton!  Cheesy  Here he is with my boyfriend - isn't he huge and impressive!? (er...I mean the skeleton, not the boy.  Roll Eyes)

Thank you SO MUCH mandys08!  I LOVE everything!  Grin

25  Teal Flower Swirly Supernova Bedroom! (5 pictures) in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by Haylie on: August 27, 2009 08:00:20 PM
For my little sister's 15th birthday, we redid her room!  It used be be our room, before I moved out.

Before picture:  (These are our painting clothes, by the way.  Tongue)

My concept drawing:

We stenciled the swirls using contact paper and it worked AMAZINGLY well...there were a few drips, but overall it was perfect!  For the white swirls on the wall, we actually stuck the outlines of the shapes up, painted them white, then stuck the insides up over the white, then painted the walls teal, right over the contact paper.  The sides of the cube were done using "Frog Tape" - I highly recommend it, well worth the few extra bucks over regular blue painters tape.

If you're curious about the size, the center of the flower is about 11 inches in diameter, the cube is 2.5 feet each side.

It turned out even better than I imagined!  I'd post some in-progress pix too, but I think this post is probably pic-heavy enough. Tongue  Maybe later.

What do you think?  Any questions?  Cheesy

27  Fruit Pizza! in Dessert by Haylie on: July 20, 2009 01:50:26 PM
Hey craftsters!  Just wanted to show off the lovely (and SO DELICIOUS) Fruit Pizza my mom made yesterday.

The crust is sugar cookie, and the "icing" is cream cheese, vanilla, and sugar.  For this particular pizza she used nectarines, blueberries, strawberries, and kiwi.  She would've used more kinds of fruit, but I'm picky.  Tongue

In the bag was a matching pouch with a snap, a great "I <3 USA" pin, and adorable patriotic star buttons!

Thanks, goldfishpollywog! Smiley

29  Re: Jessica's May 2010 Medieval-Themed Wedding Stuff in Weddings and Bridal Showers by Haylie on: June 22, 2009 09:44:02 AM
For the butterfly decorations you might consider something like what Bath & Body Works did in their store when they came out with their new "butterfly flower" scent...

I can't find any pictures, but they had vellum butterfly shapes, about 2'' to 3'' wide (I think you could cut them out with a punch) tied on clear fishing line...they used orange, but white would probably be better for you...I'm not describing it very well, but it was lovely.  They moved slightly in any breeze, making it look like they were flying around.

Oh!  I took pictures with my cell phone!

30  Re: Friends of Craftster Raffle Swap FOCR R6 US ONLY (SIGNUPS CLOSED!! Sendout 6/27) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Haylie on: June 21, 2009 06:48:47 PM
Here's my offering!  It's a 3 x 3 in cross-stitch/embroidery in a wood frame.  I got really into the "and you" aspect of the theme with this one... The tree has a yellow ribbon because my man is in the army and therefore the 4th of July & patriotic stuff means that much more to me.  The rest of the stitching is inspired by my grandparents' cottage, where we go every year for the 4th to watch fireworks!

Hope you guys like it! Smiley
