381  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: birds for mom and dad on: February 06, 2005 09:01:42 AM
WOW- those are incredibly beautiful- did you hand sew them, or were they done on a machine?

my advice would be to split them up, so they are two separate pieces of embroidery. i'm not sure if you would feel comfortable doing that, as they look like they are very close together...i think they would look great mounted in two small frames so they could be hung over your parent's bed.... you could also paint the frames bright red, that would also compliment the embroidery.
382  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Tis the Season Ornament Swap on: December 17, 2004 07:50:13 AM
Ahh! It seems as if everyone is taking so long to post, i have to admit fault as well! I received a heart ornament, star ornament, the seed ornament, the little bird ornament made with pongs, beaded star ornaments, and most recently the beautiful resin ornament. I will post pictures soon- and thanks to everyone for the beautiful ornaments!

385  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Make It Yourself- Sewing Machine Stencil on: December 15, 2004 08:04:05 AM
I recently became obsessed with downloading new fonts for my computer, and i realized that dingbat fonts are an excellent source of new stencil ideas. Here is a sewing maching stencil i made, which i put on a cheap canvas tote from the craft store.

386  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Easiest Christmas Stockings EVER! on: December 15, 2004 08:01:52 AM
Here's a link to a couple stockings I made. I bought cheap pre made stockings and painted on names and a little picture with acrylic paint. I am planning on making more as gifts, since they were so quick and easy.

Me & my boyfriend were especially lean on funds this year, so we bought a bunch of those generic clay pots at home depot, and my boyfriend replanted some clippings he had taken from a huge spider plant we had. We spent a whole day painting and decorating each individual pot, and they turned out GREAT! who doesnt like a nice houseplant, especially with a personalized pot?!

I LOVE that stencil! If I may ask, where did you get it??
389  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Re: My Stenciled T-shirts are cracking! on: November 14, 2004 09:37:49 AM
Weird- I use acrylic paint for all of my stenciling (without heat setting or any watering down of the paint) and my shirts never crack...you might want to try using straight acrylic paints and really laying on thick coats.
390  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / My First Soup (20 Minute Chicken Posole) on: November 09, 2004 09:58:12 AM
Just wanted to share an EXTREMELY easy recipe for soup that i found online:

http://soup.allrecipes.com/az/Qickndsy20MintChicknPsl.asp

I had never made soup before, and to be honest, it seemed very daunting. this recipe was incredibly easy, and only took (as promised!) 20 minutes. I would definitely recommend leaving out the olives though....
