I bought a huge roll of cork board from pearl paint that I painted with acrylic and put up in my apartment to lessen the horrible sterile white walls.  It looks fantastic, and it's fairly cheap.

Pieter Bruegel the Elder is one of my favorite artists.  I can't remember if it was him or his son who did a series of drawings of the seven sins and seven virtues, but wouldn't that make a fantastic set of boxes?!
