22  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Macro Challenge - Why Hello There (Butterfly) on: April 27, 2008 07:52:04 AM
I decided to celebrate my return to craftster with an entry. ^_^

This little guy (or girl?) was in the Washington D.C. Natural History Museum. There was an exhibit where you could enter a room and be surrounded with hundreds of live butterflies. It was great.

this place has square foot increments only... strange, i know. it says that if you order more they will combine the square footage into one piece.

i hope that helps!

Oh my goodness, thank you so much! It is a strange increment, but I am more than glad that you found it.  Kiss Thank you again!
24  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Help me find THIS Fabric on: March 23, 2008 07:40:36 PM
Hi everyone,

I fell in love with a fabric called "strawberry" (the blue variation) by Alexander Henry. I am been searching the net but I can only find this yellow version

(yellow version)

I'd like to find the version with a blue background (it was a deep teal-ish blue)

Thank you so much for any and all help.

To be honest after Chris March was auf'd I really lost interest in the final three. I did end up watching but after seeing the three collections I think it was super obvious who'd win.

-Rami had 3- pieces which were stunning but the rest, as you ladies have said, really weren't female-figure-friendly. I noticed he didn't get rid of those saddle bag sides to the black dress which really annoyed me.
-Christian's collection was super dramatic (I was so glad the model with the HUGE hat could still see where she was going!) I thought she might fall.
-Jillian's collection was very diverse and had interesting silhouettes but I only loved one of her dresses (The little black babydoll-ish one).

Out of the three of them I think Christian deserved it the most. (When he was so nervous on the runway in the end he was super adorable!) He may be fierce but he really looked like he needed a hug.

OKAY HERE IT GOES

Oh my goodness when the judges declared who was going home my mouth spewed profanity like never before. My beloved Chris wasn't chosen to be in the top three.  Angry I have never been more angry with the judges. I loved Chris' looks even though they were made with human hair. I thought the judges reaction to the hair was so peculiar, I mean why is that different than animal hair? (I am against the fur industry by the way). At least we all know he got to show at fashion week anyway.

Was anyone else super shocked by Jillian's cocky speech at the end of her segment? It just seemed so out of character for her.

I am super shocked Chris didn't win fan favorite. Nothing against Christian or the other designers but Chris M. is so darn fun!

I was so happy someone asked Michael Kors the "you always wear black" question, and "Mean-a Garzilla"?! Oh my gosh, best name ever!

It was so great to see all the other designers again and I can't wait to see the top four designers' homes.
I hope Chris M. makes it to the runway, all his work I have seen so far has been dramatic and brilliant!

I totally agree Puppy_girl. I was super excited when I heard Chris's name called but then when they said Rami was in too my heart sank. Chris is totally my favorite and although Rami is brilliant with draping he needs to make things more interesting, Rami always seems to drape in a style which would suit women who are older. I think he needs to try draping in a new younger way.

I really liked Sweet P but her dress doesn't give me much room to argue against the judges. It was cute but it wasn't dramatic. I wish she'd have made a long tail of gorgeous fabrics or something.
29  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Father's Day / Re: Gift Ideas For A Distant Difficult Blind Dad? on: February 14, 2008 08:02:39 AM
there are a lot of websites related to blindness, just type it in to google.
my fiancee is blind and so are his 2 younger sisters so i have resarched this alot.
but also i dont know much about your situation so that would be a good idea to look at these sites
there are some that do cards in braille for you.
i could ask my fiancee if you need any ideas, i could ask him what he thinks
PM me if you want me to ask him.

Thank you very much for the offer.  Smiley I have bought him a card with braille before and he told me he couldn't read it and that the braille on the card must have been wrong. It was a reputable card company so I'm not sure if he was being honest or just wicked.

OKAY HERE IT GOES

I am so super duper happy that Chris M. finally won a challenge! I totally would have worn that hoodie costume or not.

I figured it would be between Sweet P and Ricky at the end, their outfits were too risky for the judges. It was a tough challenge because it goes against all the things they have been told to do in previous challenges. Before they were told things were too costume-y, then after having them go left they tell them to turn right and go full out costume.

We're getting closer to the end, my goodness this season is going so fast!
