1  Graffiti quilt for cancer (photo fat) in Quilting: Completed Projects by MidwestManiac on: June 30, 2010 10:04:43 AM
Hi all! After many trials and tribulations keeping me from starting and then finishing this quilt, it is finally complete! In an earlier post I was looking for ideas for a fundraiser for a child in our community with a brain tumor ( http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=350930.0 ). I was hoping to make many small things, but decided to go with one big thing and a few small things (perhaps I will post the small things some other time). Anywho, all fabrics including the batting and backing, are from my stash. It is quilted in matching orange thread around each section and approx 2" away from the black flange (omg, the flange was so much fun!) around the entire quilt. The backing is the same orange as the binding, I believe it was either red rooster or blank... or something. Anywho, I hope all you seasoned quilters can appreciate it as much as I do.

Now, how much should I have them price it for? I guess I should mention it is toddler/small throw size.

2  Re: Knifty Knitters! in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by MidwestManiac on: October 02, 2008 02:41:12 PM
HI there! I finally got around to taking photos of  few hats that I made almost 2 months ago. They are my loomy version of the needle knit banana republic knock-off hats as seen here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=197572.0.  The tutorial can be found on ravelry and on decoraccentsinc yahoo group. I might post it here as well when I have another free minute.

3  Pink Paisley/ Blue Stars Washcloths- 4 pics in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by MidwestManiac on: July 15, 2008 01:57:09 PM
(I thought this area would be fitting for these, if I am wrong, please move this)

A lil story: I haven't sewed since the 7th grade when I made a gym bag in home-ec. I have designed many things, bought many yards of fabric, and just recently purchased 25 pounds of sewing patterns, but haven't sewed anything, until today. I grabbed my mom's Sinplicity 4700 sewing machine about a year ago, and haven't used it. Since then I have purchased 2 (yes two) "Shark" sewing machines (the cheap $20 at chain stores). Since I'm not machine literate and there is no manual to be found, I decided to take the plunge and actually take one of the lil sewing machines out of it's box today. Even tho this machine only goes forward in a straight stitch, I love it for its simplicity. =)

Anywho, I'm long winded, and here is what I made in about 30min or so: 4 washcloths, 2 of each

This first photo shows the front and back of the washcloths. Navy blue terry, light pink terry, pink paisley cotton, blue stars cotton

The colors are truest in this photo

Close up of stars...which is actually "The Wise Old Owl" by Kristen Powers (if anyone is interested)

I was just too excited that I had to post. I know it is nothing compared to all of what you guys can do, but I guess I gotta start somewhere.

Thanks for looking!!

4  Charming Stitch Markers - Few Pics in Knitting: Completed Projects by MidwestManiac on: June 05, 2008 07:04:21 PM
I made stitch markers to pass the time while my boyfriend/fiancee' (not sure anymore) is at work and band practice. I made hundreds of them. My fingers are sore, but they are well worth it. The heart and leaf ones fit on the round KK looms. The blue leaf ones fit on the long KK looms. And the tiny pearls fit on size 9 needles. They are nothing special, but I need to get in the habit of posting more things.

Glass pearls

Glass leaf.

Thanks for looking!!

(I hope I posted these in the right area)

5  Re: Bummer of a Mother's Day (Now with pics) in Mother's Day by MidwestManiac on: May 08, 2008 07:46:06 AM
I didn't feel like starting a new thread in here or one in Paper Goods.
I made a journal jar (ok, box) to go with the journal I bought for mom to answer questions from the box and then give to me on x-mas as my present. Did I confuse? Sorry if I did. My academic advisor called and woke me up 30min ago. Huh So, I guess this is part of her mom's day gift.

Just a medium chipboard box with scalloped edges on the lid (pain in the ass )
I covered it with scrapbook paper I bought at the Dollar Tree a long time ago. Used 1 sheet.

Lid off to show the chipboard-

Special surprise for mom when she opens it-

(I've had this fur fabric for a really long time...3 yards of this color and 3 yards each of two other multicolors)

Photo with journal-

I still have to go get 8.5x11 label paper to print out the prompts, cut them out, and put them in the box.

6  Slipknot onsie! in Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects by MidwestManiac on: September 05, 2005 09:39:24 PM
Hey everyone! This is my first time posting here,so I hope I am posting in the right place.

I made a long sleeve onsie for my friend's baby with iron-on transfers and an image I found on the internet. The baby's daddy is a drummer and IDOLIZES Joey Jordison from Slipknot. So I hope he loves this!

On the front I put a #1 because that is Joey's number in Slipknot. My cat had to be in the pics somehow  Wink

Close up of the front:

The back, i really loved how this turned out!:

Close up of the back, it's really not blurry, but for some reason when i took the pic, it turned out that way:

Well, thats it. Please let me know what you think!  Grin
