31  Re: What to do with my Archie Club sweatshirt?! in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by TessTessi on: November 18, 2005 07:34:50 PM
I would combine a couple of the ideas above.  I would definately take it in, make it a snugger fit. I would also do a zip, but I would set it off to the side, so you don't cut into Archies Face Smiley  It would cut a bit into the lettering, but I'd just repaint the zipper to match.  I might cut the sleeves to make them short, too.  Here's a crappy drawing of my idea Smiley

32  Re: Obsession Swap Gallery!! in The Swap Gallery by TessTessi on: November 16, 2005 09:31:19 PM
Sugarhandgrenade really went all out and sent me some awesome stuff!!

2 purses, a little pin with a cute little bat, the cutest card with a shoe on it Smiley,  2 awesome bottlecap necklaces,

some funky photo stickers, a way cool magnet, a TOTALLY RAD elephant scarf which I am modelling (pardon my ghostly pallor, I don't believe in going out in the sun). Sugarhandgrenade was worried that it would be too warm in Cali for a scarf, but it's not.  It's VERY cold in the evenings with the breeze over the ocean. And it matches all my stuff!

And when I saw this, I seriously laughed out loud. I don't know why it struck me! I think it is SO CUTE!!

He's totally going to rock my keychain!

33  My craftster inspired totes: WARNING IMG HEAVY!! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by TessTessi on: November 07, 2005 08:52:29 PM
I've only been on crafster for a couple months, and everything on here is SO inspiring. I've made bags for a long time, but this site has definitely improved my arsenal of embellishment tricks!  All these bags are "Knitters totes" with room for patterns, needles and notions!

So here they are, in no particular order:

Pink Lady Tote: My first tote using an iron on transfer!  She's ironed on white canvas, then appliqued on.

Alpaca Love Tote:  My first stencil of all time!!!!!  I could hardly keep myself from ripping off my stencil as soon as I painted it!!  Major Thanks for all the craftsters tutorials on this one!!

Felt Tree: Before I came here I had no idea how amazing felt could be! I'm in love now!

South west Sunset:  Yet more felt love! I love how the felt gives depth to an applique

Vinyl Silk Flowers:  I had never used iron on vinyl in a decorative way before! I can remember where I saw this idea, but whoever came up with it is a FRICKING GENIUS!!  Silk flowers are stuck to fabric with iron on vinyl, then I free-formed stitched the petals for decoration.  After that, I appliqued the flowers onto the bag. I was a little sad that the iron on interfacing didn't do so good for this bag. I may have to keep this bag for myself Smiley

Vinyl silk flowers with Buttons:  I have always loved buttons, but I became obsessed with them when doing the obsession swap! My partner was obsessed with them, so I embellished a bag for her with buttons. Now I'm obsessed. Same technique as above, but button centers instead of stitched centers for the flowers.

Thank you very much for looking!!  I love this site and the people on it SO much!

34  Re: Easy McCall's #4444, not so easy in Sewing Pattern Reviews by TessTessi on: November 06, 2005 06:41:33 PM
My camera's fixed, YAY! Here's a pictures of my version:

It was lots of fun to make, although I did deviate a little. The waist was a little big, but that was easily remedied! The dress is very flattering, and I would recommend it!

35  Re: Your crafty genes (not jeans) in Discussion and Questions by TessTessi on: November 03, 2005 10:30:00 PM
One of my friends showed me the worlds cutest purse made of a shell the other day.  It was some sort of large mussell shell with a hinge on the bottom, and a metal clasp on the top to close it. Inside was lined so you could hold change in it!! It was so amazing!  I have a handbag my mother got in Hawaii which is made with little shells all strung together.

As you can see on the left part of the strap, it's broken Sad So I guess I get to learn how to do it!!

d_oubt We never had cable television.  When I moved out it took me years to get a television, then I gave it away when I moved to Cali.  One of my friends recently gave me her old TV (her boyfriend got a 61" (!!!) plasma TV or something equally as ridiculous), and it has a VHS player on it!!! I don't watch TV, but I hit the thrift stores for tapes!! I just got the Cindy Crawford 80's workout tape! I am soooo excited!!!!  I also scored "The Breakfast club" recently, so I'm excited about that, too.  I actually enjoy listening to music much more than watching TV. I can do something else while doing it, and good music always makes me think!! I turn into a zombie when I'm in front of a tv since I haven't had one for so long!

36  Re: Basic Cable from...SNB Nation!!! in Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller by TessTessi on: October 26, 2005 10:42:29 PM
Everyone's hats look so great!! Here's one I made:

It was originally intended for the cute guy (my fiance John) but it was too small.  While we were in UT visiting (John's first time to meet my HUGE extended family) my cousin's little girl was crying, long day for a little tike. John picked her up (he's so good with children) and she stopped crying.  We gave her the hat just cause it looked so damn cute on here, and no fit issues as she has a little noggin.

Okay, here's one more cute picture!

I agree with adding extra cables, too.  For the next bunch of hat's I made with this pattern, I did 2 extra rounds and it fit most peoples heads really well!  This project is a great intro to cabling.  It was my first, and I am now totally obsessed.

37  Re: zimmermann beads UPDATE: i made them! so EASY! + mini tute (pic heavy) in Beads: Completed Projects by TessTessi on: October 19, 2005 07:49:29 PM
Here's my version of the necklace!

And I made a bracelet by string beads and tying a knot in between.  It's not finished...I need to work out all the kinks!

I'm going to experiment with some more colors and textures! Yay! This was a fun project!  I made my tube too small, i wanted a bigger necklace.  I agree with pucchimaiko, to make it bigger than you think it needs to be!

38  Re: DIY Hummingbird Feeder.... in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions by TessTessi on: October 17, 2005 05:41:32 PM
I got inspired by squid_ink's hummigbird feeder, so I made this one:

It's not anything fancy, just some hot glue, ribbon, and a soy sauce bottle. I was so excited to get it up, it finally stopped raining, and I felt bad for forgetting to fill the other feeder before I went away this weekend.  We'll see how it lasts through the elements.
