21  Totes made from kimono fabric! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by TessTessi on: February 18, 2007 03:14:49 PM
I went on a quilter's shop hop last weekend, and one of the shops had rolls of japanese kimono fabric by the yard! I've never seen this before at a quilt shop, and was delighted! It was a bit expensive, so I held myself back and only got a few styles.  Here's what I made from them:

The yellow bag is made from yellow canvas, and interfaced. It's stiff as nails, and it was a bit hard to stitch the lining in, the bag didn't want to bend!

The blue bag is made from a very soft denim, almost fuzzy. I interfaced it, and then sewed the fabric on. I need to get some more fabric of this weight, it's not as heavy as the canvas, but is easier to keep from wrinkling!

Let me know what you think!

22  Limey-Gingham-Quilted Tote in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by TessTessi on: February 10, 2007 12:00:29 AM
Let me know what you think! I made it for a fundraiser, so I hope it does well!

The front is pieced, and I accidentally cut a huge hole in the gingham, so I appliqud flowers over the top.  It's fully lined, inner pocket, and I made it from my scraps Smiley It's my first pieced anything, really, I make little 4-patch pouches but I don't think that counts!

23  Re: Tree swap 2nd Round, The Real Deal Gallery in The Swap Gallery by TessTessi on: May 18, 2006 08:34:23 PM
I got my swap package from geek_patrol yesterday, and it was awesome!

She sent little goodies to embellish my cloths, the embroidered applique is AWESOME.  The bracelet is made of hemp which looks like a branch, it has little beads on it that reminds me of dew on a leaf, and in general it rocks. One of the buttons has a poem which reads:
Trees
are poems that Earth writes
upon the Sky
We
fell
them
down
and turn them into paper,
that we may record our
emptiness

Then she also sent this perfect little figurine of a tree. It is very beautiful, finely detailed, and very intriguing to my cats (Marilyn, but she looks like Merzilla in this picture).  It looks SO perfect in my little figurine display area, but if the cats find it interesting I may have to hide it up high!

Thank you very much for everything!

I got a great package yesterday day from my secret craftster.  She sent me 3 beautiful pairs of earrings, and a darn cute wallet. The wallet even his a mini little teensy weensy pocket on it for my change, or maybe some tic-tacs.  I tried to get an "action shot" of the earrings, but every picture I took I looked horrifying...so no dice!  Thank you THank you my secret crafter!!!

26  Re: Fabric Junkie Swap in The Swap Gallery by TessTessi on: February 13, 2006 05:03:47 PM
I got some great fabrics in this swap! I am excited to show everyone!

The first package I got was from Snacker, she sent this adorable floral fabric! It's absolutely perfect in everyway, and I think I'll make something cute for myself with it!

The next fabric I receive was from ladybugger.  I mentioned that I loved batiks, and she really outdid herself wtih this one! The colors are so rich, I think it's going to become a summer dress!

The last package I recieved was from Lothruin! She sent some wonderful and amazing fabrics including this precious vintage brocade she got at an estate sale:

Then this very awesome batik that can be a skirt, or a length of fabric. I am of making either a skirt, pillows for the house, or just leaving it like it is!

And last but not least, she managed to find something that fell under my "weirder the better crazy funky" thrift store find.

Ironically enough, this crazy fabric is the same fabric that my grandmother used for my little sisters baby blankie!! She cut out the crazy motifs, and stitched them onto a caclico! I think I may need to make some pillows or something, my sisters getting married in May and this would be a great gift!

Thank you all for being so generous and sending such beautiful fabrics!

And this last one is from handxhand.  Disembodied heads, creepy!

28  My Irregular Choice Recon in Shoes: Completed Projects by TessTessi on: January 02, 2006 09:31:43 PM
I was inspired by a pair of awesome irregular choice shoes http://www.zappos.com/n/pair_image.cgi?product_id=7153983&color_id=72.  I had these brown shoe hanging out in my closet for over a year, they were on clearance at payless for 5 bucks.  Although they were very cute, I'm not really into the "equestrian" look (I'm guessing those were horse bits on the front).

Here's the before:

Here's the after:

Ahhhhh..  Much better. I can't wait to wear them out! They need to be broken in pretty bad, but that's okay. One must suffer sometimes for adorable shoes Smiley

29  My version of Danica in Knitting: Completed Projects by TessTessi on: December 30, 2005 06:42:40 PM
Here's my version of Knitty's Danica! It was SO fun and so easy to make!! I definately learned to know which decreases go which way after this project!! I made it out of the boucle from target. It's for my mother for a christmas gift, I hope she likes it Smiley If not, that's cool, my little sisters are at home and I know they'll love it!

I thought entrelac would be scary/hard, but it wasn't! I'd encourage this project for anyone who feels comfortable with knitting, purling, and picking up stitches.  It's not even that necessary to count once you get the hang of how the pattern goes!
