Is the speckle effect from the yarn or did you do something fancy?  Either way, would you mind divulging what you did?  My sister is pregnant and wants a "strawberry" hat, so your modification would be perfect.

It looks fantastic!

I found the pailettes at Pearl Arts and Crafts.  They already had the big holes in them, but to get the colors I wanted I had to buy 6 packages of the "assorted colors" version and sort through them.  The fringe benefit of that is that I've got enough pailettes for at least 3 more hats.  Pink and orange are in the works.

I made the sparkle hat, which is too cute.  I used the Limeade Lamb's Pride Bulky and pailettes in 3 shades of blue:
