271  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Knitting Journal Ideas... on: September 18, 2005 05:26:15 PM
i have a vision....
of a journal with a knitted cover
or knitted pieces attached the the cover...
OR even a circular band to slide over it that keeps it closed.
as for the actual contents...
i have no idea.

274  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / FIRST BOOK! looks good i think! on: September 17, 2005 10:48:18 PM
so i finished my first ever book. well, an official book, not some folded paper and staples.
the pictures i took are with crappy webcam, ya know...i'll try to update with better quality another time.
i used the coptic stich to bind the pages.
i covered the cover with tissue paper. the top piece was blue, the under piece was pinkish-purple-magenta. i used a piece of lega-sized paper under both for stability in folding around the edges, etc. also, so it'd be against white rather than brown cardboard.
i coated the cover in diluted-elmers to keep it from tearing easily, being tissue paper, and to adhere it better, since i didnt glue the entirity down for fear of glue lumps. as a result, i got this funky texture/colouring which i rather like. the pinky colour wasnt showing before...i hope its masculine enough still.
i made the "c" from sculpy the first time, with 2 holes like a button. it was purple and looked nice, the tie was going to work differently. it broke when i tied it to though, so i made this one from a coat hanger, not having access, this weekend, to copper wire.
i used pretty heavy cardstock for the pages, there are 36...not very many.
it's for a friend's birthday, i hope he likes it.

(sorry i deleted this link when i fixed the pictures: http://photos.yahoo.com/sarahmissourifiorella. more pictures. of details etc.)

for the buba/booba....
it would be cool to use a skullcap, or whatever those rubber baldy-skin caps are called, like boobas have. and put the dots on that, with puff paint or beads or something.

i was wondering if anybody here has good ideas for book binding without any kind of glue? this includes adding the covers. i know the coptic stich, got that down, so outside of getting the pages together mostly.
[how nessecary is it to use the glue on the spine when creating blocks (coptic bound pages)?]

maybe if you  have any books on the subject, or don't mind doing tutorial? that would be most helpful!

here are some books i found on the subject: http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/stuff/bookbinding.html

 Cheesy thanks!
278  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Re: recipe for envelope glue??? on: September 10, 2005 11:28:18 AM
if you don't find a good recipe, which i hope you do...
you could include some really cool and coresponding stickers to seal with...
or that double stick tape with the peal off back? just leave the peal off thing on. (especially since gelatin and vinegar sounds like it tastes gross...i woulder if you could add a few drops of flavouring like mint or something. we have all this rootbeer flavouring in our cabinet; that would be nifty.)
279  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: come one! come all! post pics of your tattoos! on: September 10, 2005 11:10:08 AM
thanks guys...girls*  Cheesy i know exactly what you mean, both of you.
i think i'll probably end up with quite a few of both...meaningful and not.
i also think meaning can be just the meaning of a symbol. like a bird could have to do with freedom...but it doesn't have to represent that time when you recovered from a deathly illness. though i think that's a great event to represent with ink as well...

hi! i'm thoroughly enjoying this thread.
i've hung out at the reputible tattoo shop in my little town a lot in the past year, as we had the majority of our all-ages rock shows there.
i have a  huge fascination with and love of tattoos...but i have another 2 years to wait.
i'm really into traditional and sailor tattoos...
but i'm wondering, just wondering, what do you think about meaning and tattoos?
