1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Best glue for bonding plastic to metal clips/barettes? on: October 07, 2007 04:08:50 PM
I searched, and didn't find a thread about this, hopefully this isn't redundant!  I tried affixing vintage buttons to Goody clips with superglue, let it dry overnight, and the buttons fell off when I sprang the clip.   Undecided  I'm guessing a glue gun wouldn't be strong enough and that I need something more pliable....  What would be best?
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Recommendations for Dying Old Jeans Darker? on: October 10, 2006 09:33:00 AM
So I have several pairs of old jeans that I don't wear because they don't fit well and I don't like the wash.  I am contemplating revamping them into other articles of clothing (which would solve the problem of them not fitting well), but I want I nice dark wash.  Does anyone have experience dying jeans dark?  What dye did you use/were the results pleasing?  Quips, qualms, etc. Wink  Thanks!
3  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Helps? (Good enough for nonvegans) vegan pumpkin pie, please! on: November 20, 2005 05:12:26 PM
Hey there.  So I am cooking Thanksgiving dinner for my omni family, and while I am actually cooking them a (free range) turkey (which I am feeling a bit guilty about. . .but I love my family), I would like to make as many other dishes as possible vegan (perhaps without them knowing, hehe).  So before I started moving toward veganism I made awsome pumpkin pie with eggs and evaporated milk.  I tried a recipe about a week ago that used silken tofu, and it was alright, but not amazing.  So I need help!  And what does anyone know about egg replacer?  I've never used it before (always used flax seed, or banana) but I've heard mixed reviews about it.  Any suggestions would be *majorly* appreciated! Wink
4  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Ideas for Retro/Vintage-inspired quick costumes?Help? on: October 22, 2005 08:32:35 AM
So I wasn't sure what I'd be doing for Halloween.  But now, turns out I'll have a party to go to (that will actually be supporting a non-profit organization I belong to on campus, Habitat for Humanity).  Anyway, I haven't dressed up for Halloween in forever!  And this is the perfect opportunity to do so.  However, I only have a week to scramble together a costume. . . Undecided  Any ideas?  Please?  Note, I want a fairly "wear-able" costume, as in no cardboard boxes, etc.  I'd also like an excuse to buy or sew (as long as it's not too complicated) more clothing or wear some of the vintage pieces I already have, any retro-inspired costumes would be lovely.
