1  Re: cabled hat and scarf [with pattern!] in Knitting: Completed Projects by lawral on: September 19, 2007 03:32:28 PM
i've had this pattern bookmarked since yarnhag posted it. i made this with some 100% cotton from an unraveled sweater, holding 3 three strands of dk-ish yarn together. i'm thinking that i'll use up the rest of this yarn by knitting the scarf with it and some grey ss from my stash.

i love it! thanks for posting the pattern yarnhag!

i've finally caved and starting knitting one of these. I'm making a scarf width clap (two repeats of the increase section) for my gf's birthday in november. i'm using some no-name mill ends that she picked out at acmoore.

i'm a bit further along than this now and have even dropped a few stitches! but this picture really shows the colors as they are in real life.

5  socks! in Knitting: Completed Projects by lawral on: July 15, 2007 08:36:38 PM
i have always loved the idea of knitting socks and have been buying sock yarn for years, but i didn't get around to actually knitting any until this summer. here are my first socks!

i used lion brand magic stripes and the pattern right inside the label. i'm giving them to my mom for her birthday next week. i figure people with july birthdays have a real shortage of things like wool socks among their birthday presents.

here's the real question though, what do i do with what's left of the yarn? it's practically enough for a third sock! real useful...

i finally have a picture back from the gf's camera. i am further along than this now though. i am using bernat softee in pale yellow.

i am about to take this blankie as my only knitting project on a roadtrip to reno. hopefully i'll be able to just about finish this baby up. then it will be off to some unsuspecting friend's house with no cats to wash, block, and wrap minus the cat dander. Smiley

8  Re: topless hat? in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by lawral on: December 20, 2006 04:55:56 PM
here's what i ended up with

i used the bottom half of the earflap hat pattern in IK summer '03. it's a women's pattern, so i'm hoping it's small enough to stay up on shane's head. i did a couple of rows of ribbing at the top just in case. his gf approves and that's really half the battle. Wink

10  Re: New Knitty's Calorimetry in Knitalongs by lawral on: December 13, 2006 02:06:10 PM
i started this before leaving my apartment for a party and finished it in time to wear it on the walk home!

it's caron simply soft on size 7 needles. i cast on 80 stitches and only did  10(ish) repeats of row 5.
