 Cry
I'm not in Sydney but still I agree  - Is there no value in the traditional skills and techniques that are taught by industry professionals?
Instead will cheap imports made by underpaid workers be our only choice? These are skills that should be valued and fostered.
Its "The Dumbening"...

Okay, I know this topic has been quiet for a long time, but I just wanted to say a) I aitn't dead - I have been away from Craftster for a while though due to bad health and  b) a friend just gave me the Stupid Sock Creatures book for my birthday (along with new socks!)
So of course I had to try some!

(that's a tongue poking out on the rabbity one. I love his crazy eyes!)

Craftypuppymom has received!

But even more exciting (to me!) I just received mine too! I am SO excited! Ralph, you are the BEST!!!   Kiss

Look what just arrived!

That's what was in the pack. Now lets go through it...
The card from Ralph that was friendly and funny and full of crafty talent-

and the tote bag that she stencilled...

on both sides! Useful and totally cool!

But look at this! John Winchester's Journal! I think Ralph came up with all the journal entries herself. Its pretty damned awesome! See the cross bookmark and the buckle that keeps it closed?

He even has a picture of his boys in a pocket in the front cover:

Let me read you my favourite page so far :

"December 11, 1983.
Sammy has finally started sleeping through the night, and now that Dean shares a bed with him, he's out like a light as well. But me... I close my eyes and's there. It always starts the same,..."
It goes on but I am in a hurry to show you the rest of my goodies.  Wink
Here is a little treasure chest, full of... you guessed it! Treasures!

This photo doesn't show it too well but it has a filigree pattern embossed in the top and is all antiquey-looking.
And inside ...

Its decorated with "Winchester" in letter beads and read glittery beads with Winchestery-type charms. There are little packages wrapped in stamped tissue paper. (I should mention that I love red and black. Ralph you are too thoughtful!) Lets unwrap the little packages!
A shrinky pentacle!

My very own shrinky Impala keyring! Now if only I had the black 1967 Chevy Impala to go with it...

Notice how nicely the tissue paper goes with the whole theme?
Here is my favourite jewelery which I will be wearing when I go out tonight : the Supernatural charm necklace.

It has a peace symbol and A chinese happiness symbol and a pentacle and a little gun charm, a cross, a bone-type bead, a pretty red chinese bead and a labrys or double-sided axe (found in ancient Minoan depictions of the Mother Goddess, Similar symbols appear on Norse [it was often associated with the god Thor], African, and Greek religious objects, where it is most often a feminine symbol, most likely lunar in origin. Use of the labrys has been documented on medieval charms used to attract women. Today, it is often used as a sign of identity and solidarity among lesbians...er...  Undecided Oh well I don't care. I like the necklace! There endeth the "history of symbols" lesson)

Last but not least - The Sam & Dean Cassette-case Shrine!

Isn't it the cutest thing?!  Cheesy It would have photographed better if I had laid it flat but then you wouldn't be able to see the little tube of salt tucked into the spine of the cassette case which I think is the funkiest part!  Oh this is SO going in my car!

I am the luckiest swap partner ever! Thank you so much Ralph!
I love it all! I normally never squee but... SQUEEEEE!!!!  Grin

You are super-talented! You just keep getting better and better. Keep up the good work!:-*

Wow! That dragon box is really pretty! Shocked

It looks like you have a"thing" for blues Tanza! Wink

I got my final package yesterday! From enchanted_wool! (ignore the floral fabric in the background, I am making some vintage drapes into a skirt)

What a lovely card with the skeleton of a leaf! did you make it yourself? Its groovy!

And these are the coasters! Super wide for those big  icy glasses of lemonade (or gin & tonic) in the humid summer days. They absorb all of the condensation that drips off your glass.
They look good enough to eat! Like giant caramel swirls!

Thank you enchanted_wool! They are sweet!

AAaaargh! Don't mention woolly beanies!

The humidity! The humidity!  Cry  I braved the heat and made a dash out to the letterbox (we don't have that new-fangled invention called air-conditioning) and found a package from cyndiq!

Here it is!

See the cute owl card? There was a matching sticker on the envelope.
There is the microscope slide pendant I asked for (which is very ladylike - I am trying to be more of a lady Grin) It is really pretty and goes with some of my lady-like clothes rally well!  Smiley

with a lovely pouch which cyndiq embroidered my initial on

and a surprise extra! A stone pendant.

I wear semi-precious stone pendants a lot, so good guess cyndiq!

Sorry about the blurry photos, my camera is on strike. Sad I think it doesn't like the weather! Cheesy

Thank you cyndiq! Its lovely!

It should!

You're definately one talented sewer and I highly reccomend your work  Smiley
Thanks!

I just tried to put on one of my kanzashi's and a little bit of superglue had gotten onto the clasp and glued it shut! OH NO!  Shocked But I want to wear it NOW!!

No worries! I dug through my jewellery stash, took the glued brooch-back off and put a new one on (Glued my fingers together in the process!  Grin Tricky stuff that superglue!) and now I'm just waiting for it to dry so I can wear it!   Kiss

Here are the promised pics!

I love the kanzashis! The colours are just right! They really buzz on my boring black clothes  Grin As you can see - I have already pinned them to my jacket!
You can see a corner of lol-lols friendly note down the bottom.
And the little buttons are magnets. They have pictures of a cute monkey, Princess Leia, Save Ferris (from Ferris Bueller's Day Off), Mr T (How cool is that?! Cheesy) and Ponch from CHiPs!!! ( If you're under 30 that won't mean anything to you Grin) They are SO COOL!

Thank you lol-lol! Kiss
(Someones' been stalking my Wists! Grin)

YAY!! Some stuff came today! I will post pictures soon ( I was nervous about using the computer during a thunderstorm  Undecided )

Here it comes -   Here it is   -  There it goes    ......

And now to the crafts:

Lovely, even, neat crochet from ecreations! It can be used as a bookmark but I think this is so nice it might become a choker! It came with this friendly letter and a cute joker card booklet, perfect for keeping in the handbag or purse for taking down unexpected phone numbers! (I wish!)

But wait! There's more! No not a free set of steak knives - this!

The photo doesn't do it justice. It is so neat and you cant't even see the press studs that keep it closed. It is very dainty and fits perfectly!
I am really impressed as I can't yet crochet.

That wasn't all I received today though:This came from Queenofdiy. A romantic card (closest thing I have seen to a valentines card so far Grin) and a pouch specially printed for this swap. and that is the Swaroski crystal bead ring.

Here is a close up. (Wow, my hands don't look fat... how unusual  Cheesy)

You can't tell from this photo how sparkly and pretty it is.  And it fits perfectly! ( I must go and hide it now as my sister has been eyeing it covetously  Shocked)

Thank you so much ecreations and Queenofdiy! You made my day!
