36  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Discussion and Questions / Suggest me an embroidery machine. on: September 20, 2005 01:09:33 AM
okay, so... my parents have very generously offered to cough up the cash to buy me a sewing embroidery machine for my birthday. i've looked through what most of the brands have to offer (baby lock, singer, brother, janome, pfaff... who'd i miss?) but i'd really like some input from craftsters who've actually used these things. the main things i'm looking for are the software thingies to design your own embroidery patterns, & a good range of stitches. please help! oh, & sorry if this is redundant to another post... i was only able to find mentions of them being used, not any recommendations or anything. thanks in advance!

tankgirl!

i made the hat, reconned the shirt, shorts, & tights, & found the army vest at a frat party... it had two beers & a disposable camera in the pocket, so my roomie & i drank the beers, took pictures of ourselves dancing, & left the camera & empty bottles on the couch. oops.

i've had the best luck with wire coat hangers. cut the twisted/hooked part off, flatten/straighten the wire as best you can, then fold a small hook into one end. stick it through your tube of fabric (hook-end first), poke the hook through the fabric (or stitch it to) at the far end of the tube, & just pull everything through. okay, that's way confusing, but maybe useful? haha... it's early.

ah the flamingo lamp... my dear brother gave it to me a couple of xmas's ago. i'm pretty sure he found it a toy joy, a small, independent-ish toy shop in austin. you could probably just google "flamingo lamp" & find some. i know there are more out there, somewhere. ha!
