411  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: LOVE for my seam-ripper= My 1st Dress! on: May 18, 2006 02:31:21 PM
I love the material and the design, its very original, and I too adore my stitch ripper and find myself converting projects but not as successfully as this, I like the tulle at the bottom, I think I saw something like it in a magazine.  The ties are ingenious, practical yet very cool!

416  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Re: Celia Birtwell Little Rock Dress - free pattern -a-like on: May 14, 2006 02:20:05 PM
Thats a very pretty dress and cheers for posting a link to the pattern.  If you live in any kind of visiting distance of Glasgow Id go to Mandors, I hail from Kent but when I was up there I was very impressed by their selection and prices, where I am we only have C+H fabrics who are helpful but expensive! Otherwise I tend to get my fabric from Ebay theres generally a good supply of exciting and varied fabrics if you can be bothered to sift through the fat quarters! Alternately you could try this site http://www.efabrics.co.uk/ I think their prices are pretty good, but I haven't had a chance to order anything from them yet.
hope this is of some use and I sympathise completely with not having a good fabric shop nearby, it drives me crazy!

I like it, I would have never thought of doing a urinal! but i love how yours has turned out, its a nice clear design.  The towels sound like a really good idea, but won't they be difficult to embroider? What about making this design into a patch and putting it on a t-shirt, I dont know how big it is but someone in the other forums has made a top out of clothes labels, maybe you could use it to do something similar but with patches of embroidery, that kind of appeals to me.  Good luck with the towels!
420  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Re: how would you go about making this (Anthropologie) dress? on: February 22, 2006 12:04:55 PM
That is a beautiful dress, if i was more skilled Id love to make it for the Ball at the end of this year, if anyone attempts it could they please post a picture!
