21  Re: Embroidery Hoopla R4, Diptych Round - Gallery (SendOut 3/21/11) in The Swap Gallery by Jolyon on: March 22, 2011 02:48:09 PM
Here is my magnificent set of hoops from Whitesheep.  She drew on my love of the moomins for her inspiration and the results are lovely.

I love how she has captured the character so well and the cloud background is so lovely.  These hoops are so amazing and I cant wait to get them up on my walls.  I am sure they will gather a lot of admiring looks.  Also I really liked the fact that they have a nice mix of media on them. The beads are such a great idea.
Thanks so much for swapping with me Whitesheep.  It has been a great experience.

Haha.  I totally agree about beads.  Ive given up destashing them, because they only take up one bag and I always find myself buying more each time because I think what would go nicely with this ...ah black... oh I need some of those.  Disasterous.  I did finish the dress yesterday, but my friend is tiny compared to me so no pictures as Ive got no model.  It also isnt too great.  Brocade frays so much.  It was like a race against time.  I cut out some patch work squares for my project (makes me feel a lot better about having bought the material) and I started sewing up the letters for the bag. The grubby look is caused by the felt fuzzing on the canvas.  I will clear it all up at the end.  Only another 5 letters to do:

wow Sheepblue that is really really impressive.  It also looks like an immense destash!
Qazicat The felt biscuits are still making me want to eat them!  They look so cute too.
I think Ive updated you all on my destashing, but here is a poor quality phone picture of my last piece (again) and its commission twin (ish).

It was so nice to sell something that Ive made too.  Makes destashing even sweeter.  However I am struggling not to spend my earnings on all the new range amy butler fabrics that have been delivered to my local store.  Not that it would go far on them!!  They are soooo pretty though.
Im finding it really hard being back in work and not having anytime to craft again.  I do know that I want to make a dress ive had the fabric for for over a year which is for a friend and make another tote bag before I start my embroidery hoopla swap.  I find when I have a swap on it takes up what little time I have outside of work and I barely have anytime for things beside.  Good luck with your destashing all  Smiley

I just finished this:

Ive been back home for the last week; which should have given me more time to craft, but Ive had sooooo little motivation.  Anyway Ive made one thing and have another in the works, so I guess thats something.  For this project I used up some brushed cotton drill(?) I think.  Its not massively soft.  I bought it to make shorts last year and then found the perfect pair of shorts the next time I went shopping.  Typical.  Id been searching for ages before that!! Ive used about a third of the piece on this, but I also want to make a phone cover and another tote so Im sure it will be possible to use it up.  1/3 of a piece down - a whole suitcase full of fabric to go!  The felt again is from my stash.  I bought it for various different creations which never got made.  Ive still got loads left though  Sad.  The beads are some of those which I bought the other day in the charity shop.  I feel I can allow myself these little 'slip ups' in destashing so long as I actually use the things.  Definately no more fabric for a while though.
detailly bit, just incase you are interested.

Ive managed to use up some vintage fabric scraps and four (thats right FOUR) buttons on these; its not much, but I guess its a start

I REALLY REALLY LOVE this one!!
What do you think?
Im quite enjoying reducing my stash one vintage patchwork square at a time.  Also Ive got rid of two bags of scraps I was just never going to get round to using.  Its definately going to be a serious destashing year this time round.

Hurray! I got my hoop today.  I was so excited that I had wrenched it out of the postmans hand and was half way up the stairs before I realised I had to sign for it!
Inside was an adorable flapper, inspired by my love of the 1920's, stitched by Sylvanna.  I love its little felt hat and button; such a nice touch and the lips are perfect!

The detail on it is so lovely and its now proudly displayed above my mirror in my room.
Thank you so much Sylvanna.  I absolutely love it!

Big apology to Marleymiss for the late posting of this.  My postman took it hostage and it was a struggle to get it redelivered on a day when it wouldn't happen again.  I absolutely love it though.  It went straight from the packet onto my wall and is very at home with my moomin prints.  I love the brightness of moomins eyes and the colour running through the black outlining; it really adds to the piece.  Hope you all enjoy it as much as I do and I hope that the photograph does it justice.   My camera kept whiting it outm but this one seemed to have some definition:

Thank you so much Marleymiss - I love it!

28  sailor jerry swallow in Needlework: Completed Projects by Jolyon on: June 05, 2010 10:45:05 AM
Heres what Ive been working on (very on and off) for the last few weeks.  Its based on one of Sailor Jerry's designs.  Im considering putting my name on the banner and then making it into a purse.  However I dont have access to my sewing machine until July so it will have to wait to be completed.  Im quite proud of the french knot cloud, however they obscure a little bit of the detail and make it very hard to photograph.  My camera would have a clear shot and then when it focussed it would be blurry (so frustrating).  On with the pictures...

A bit of detail:

Overall (rather blurred)

Thanks for looking.

29  Re: Embroider An Endless Possibilities Panel! {EEPP} Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Jolyon on: April 16, 2010 01:25:25 PM
Prepared to be wowed; I certainly was when I opened my package yesterday!
I was absolutely speechless.  Not only had pearliepie chosen a design that encapsulates my tastes perfectly, but there is so much detail on it.  I had to look at it for ages to spot it all.  To begin with i thought that the blue ladies dress was orange flowers embroidered onto blue material, but no the whole thing is made up of tiny stitches.  Absolutely amazing.  The ladies even have little beaded necklaces and a headband (see the brunette whose hair is so lovely and textured).  Seriously I was gobsmacked.  I can totally understand why you struggled to send it off Pearliepie, but if its any consolation I absolutely adore it and could quite happily waffle on about how awesome it is for several pages! However I feel I ought to share the pictures:

^closer to the colours though very washed out^

^all the immaculate little stitches/ detail on the black dress^

^WOW!^

^a little glimpse of their jewellery^
Also apols for the poor photograph quality. Im in work at the moment during the day (boo) but next day off I will get some done in the natural light which will show them off better.  I just didnt want to delay any longer!!
Pearliepie I love it!! Cheesy

yay a bit of destashing from me! Admittedly from the newer stash, but still a piece of fabric more room in my cupboard! The photos aren't very good, but I dont often get in positions to get a full body shot.  The first picture is pre putting the side zip in.  First one Ive done, pretty disastrous.  the second picture is on the actual night.

Ive been enjoying everyones destashing.  It is all very inspirational, I just wish I had a bit more time to get everything I want to get done done!
