1  Ninja Turtle costume alteration HELP!!! in Halloween Costumes by PARTYINPINK on: October 24, 2008 10:38:11 AM
I know all my craftsters out there have brilliant minds. So, I was wondering if you could lend me your magnificent brains for this project.

So here's what's up. I have this boy's Ninja turtle costume. Size 7-8. Standard 100% polyester spandexy looking basic halloween costume:

The legs fit. The top fits. But not together aka the torso is too short and when the costume is put on my body in full, it gives a major wedgie. Not cute.

So, I was thinking of lengthening the costume by adding the old school monogram belt (circled in blue) that the turtles wore:

But problem is I don't know how. Solutions?

Keep in mind that I am very limited in resources so anything that has to do with overlock machines I can't really do. But I do live near a hobby lobby! Thanks for the help!!!

4  Cute cord bracelet ideas??? in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by PARTYINPINK on: September 16, 2006 09:40:18 AM
I'm an officer for a club at my school called SWAAT (Students working together against AIDS), and we're trying to raise money by selling bracelets that promote AIDS awareness. So, I was thinking somewhere along the style of this bracelet:

But what should I put instead of the skulls? And does anyone know where I can find tutorials for making this?

And if anyone else has different bracelet ideas I'll be more than happy to accept them!

5  Cute and Easy Knotted Bag! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by PARTYINPINK on: June 30, 2006 11:40:22 AM
Here's a really simple, yet absolutely adorable bag that my mom found in a magazine. Unfortunately she couldn't remember the name of it, but here goes!

The instructions recommend to use a 32-inch square scarf or 45-inch square tablecloth, but since I couldn't find any, I just got a 45-inch square piece of fabric and hemmed the edges so they wouldn't fray.

Examples from the magazine

There is my finished product!

And it's very spacious, I might add. It could definitely fit more than 5 regular sized magazines in it.

8  First Handsewn thing ever! in Completed Projects by PARTYINPINK on: October 23, 2005 12:21:54 PM
So... I saw some felt lying around the house, and they were these itty bitty square brown pieces of felt. So, what did I make with it? A tiny Hostess cupcake! I know it's not totally perfect, and there are definitely lots of parts around it where loose ends of thread are hanging out. But it was my first handsewn thing! I just wanted to show everybody!

I haven't made anything in a LONG time! And even though this is a way easy project, I'm way proud of it slash in love with it. I didn't like my comic book anymore so I decided to cut it up and make a wallet, since I was in need of one.

Sorry if the pictures aren't so pretty!
