1  Re: Tea Time Gallery in The Swap Gallery by albarinos on: January 30, 2007 09:24:50 AM
I just got my package from itscute all the way from China to Spain, and it took less than a week!

These are all the non-tea goodies:

Which inlcude cute and adorable pouches and coasters in pinks, baby blues and lavenders, an amazing lace knitted scarf, sugar, tiny chocolates and a whole bunch of small envelopes

And these are the teas:

The big bag is jazmine (which is my absolute favorite tea ever!!!), and then bags of misterious tea (that's only because the only chinese I know is "kill them" and that's from watching too many martial arts movies), but they smell awsome!!!
And each of the bags came wrapped in saying and superstitions and thoughts about tea.

I just have to say she was an amazing parter for this swap!!!   Thank you!!!!

2  Re: 2007 Color Craft-A-Long in Craftalongs by albarinos on: January 22, 2007 04:53:59 AM
I finished my project for January (finally!)

I passed by the thrift store and found a horrible sweayter made of awesome yarn for about 2 and decided to make the yarn usable.

So after a couple of days of making everyone in my family go insane by asking every five minute: what can I use the yarn for? My mum yelled at me (gesh, people have no patience this days :p): make some socks!, so, me being a good daughter did them.

They're ankle-high socks, very warm and soft. My plan is to use them instead of slippers to walk around the house (though my mum will probably yell at me again and tell me to stop walking around with only my socks on).

It's crochet btw.

4  Re: need help with sweater in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by albarinos on: June 04, 2006 03:57:52 AM
I made something similar a couple years ago (actually i never finished it, because the yarn I wanted to use was discontinued, and I hadn't bought enough).

what I did was chrocheting in the round:
-make a chain as long the leght of your hip/waist/or anything you prefer
-chrochet up until the armholes.
-leaving a couple inches on each side (for what will be placed under the arms), start makin a sort of pyramid-ish shape (this part you have to chrochet one on the front and one on the back, try making the back one a bit bigger than the front one, especially if you have a wide back).
-for the neck, make a really subtle U shape at the top of the pyramid.
(sorry for my 'art skills')

for the sleeves is basically the same shape, except that ypou only make of pyramid, and no U shape at the top.
.

now, the trick is that the parts painted in green should match iin lengt, so that you can sew them together.

once you sewed, the neck comes, on the round from the neckline, ans make it as long as you want.

I know it looks complicated, but it's really easy actually, it's just me (I suck at tut-making).

edit:  i was looking at the scond one. basically it's the same construction, but no neck, and the lenght of the pyramid is up to your shoulders

5  Newsboy-ish cap in Get Product and Website Opinions by albarinos on: April 30, 2006 12:55:11 PM
I finished it a like 2 weeks ago, but completely forgot to post.

It looks sort of weird on my Eeyore plushie, but really cute once worn (I'd modeled it myself, but I've been awake for more than 14 hours today, and I don't look really model-like right now!)

The other side

I've been thinking of opening an Etsy shop and sell my stuff for a while now.
Do you think hats like this would be marketable? I was thinking around $7/8, $10 max (shipping included), in many colors, I'm lucky enough to be able to get good fabric for a low price. And probably some crocheted one (same pattern, only crocheted).

Today I received my wishes from bracelet_girl and Bobolink

from Bobolink: yarn (I asked for leftovers, and she sent me some amazing yarn!!!), and as an extra: crochet/knitting patterns, a measuring tape in cm and inches Smiley and knitting needles (now I just HAVE to learn to knit!)

Thank you both!!  In love everything!!!!  Kiss

8  Re: Altoid Tin Themed Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by albarinos on: March 07, 2006 04:03:34 AM
Kircaldy is still waiting, but her tin is coming from Spain, so it may take a while.
Actually she got it like a week or so ago. She sent me a pm when she did.
Must have forgotten to tell you guys.

Anyways, I got hers yesterday:

She chose my fairy and pink themes.

She made the tin a tiny purse, and inside I found ten envelopes each with a card stamped with the image of a fairy (in pink), and butterfly wings stickers (coudln't take a pic of those, because my camera isn't working properly)

so cute!!!!  I just love my tin!

10  multicolored poncho (somewhat image heavy) in Crochet: Completed Projects by albarinos on: September 15, 2005 03:41:58 AM
Yarn is Ond (color 22), it's from Chile, and a bit complicated to find. But I got it when I went bargaing hunting a couple days ago. Lucky me!

The whole of it:

Close-up of the stitches (it's the love knot):

Back:

In case anyone's interested, I'll post the pattern as soon as I've written it (but I bet you can tell how it's done, it's really simple).
