14  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / What to do with 35mm film trailors? on: February 16, 2006 08:52:16 PM
I am a General Manager for a local movie theater. Well the trailers that play before a movie are used until the actual movie is released, then the trailers are thrown away. I have been saving them.  I want to make something with them.

They come in rolls about the size of a coffee cup... and they look like the film negatives you get back from developing film. But they are hundreds of feet long.

I thought about weaving them together and making a purse out of them....I have even thought about taking them and having certain frames blown up so I can put them on a projector and trace the images onto my walls...you get the idea... I am going to use them on scrapbooks and such.

Also the posters that aren't claimed they throw away. I am getting this HUGE Mona Lisa one from The Da Vinci Code.(It would probably cover double doors). I thought about cutting it into thin strips and making a curtain for the closet. It would have to be laminated or at least use clear packing tape to keep them from ripping.

But what ideas do you have..

If anyone wants any let me know...pay the postage and they are yours.
15  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / I painted a placemat purse on: January 23, 2006 04:54:22 PM
I thought this was a little different. I got really bored today. So I decided to paint a clutch purse I made from a placemat.

Honestly, how is my painting. I am by no means a professional, and I do everything freehand. I just enjoy painting.  I think it looks like a cheap motel painting.

20  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Angel Pillows with Battenburg lace and Embellishments on: January 03, 2006 07:30:02 AM
These pillows took me forever to make. I machine sewed the pillow, but i handsewed the the lace and embellishments on. But I am happy with the way they turned out.

I am also thinking about making make up bags out of this material..if anyone is interested in purchasing these pillows or anything made out of this material let me know.

One back of one it spells love.. but it's hard to see with the flash from the camera.

The fronts:

The back of one:

The back of the second one:

Alot of the pearl and crystal beads aren't showing up in the pictures. I sewed tiny crystal beads and pearls randomly all over the backs of these pillows.
