2  Ostrich feather prom dress anyone? in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by aboutagirlnamedalex on: October 14, 2007 07:14:10 PM
so i'm not sure if any of you are familiar with a zac posen dress worn by anabelle dexter-jones at her cotillion, but it was emblazoned with peacock feathers. ever since i saw that dress, i dreamed of having feathers on my prom dress and low and behold, I ACHIEVED THAT! here is the dress, made with gorgeous vera wang fabric, completely designed and constructed by myself!

and here's a picture of my bitchin hair that i also "designed"

thanks, comments are loved!

3  Re: Promalong - Making your own Prom dress? Join the club! in Clothing Sewalongs by aboutagirlnamedalex on: October 21, 2006 07:39:24 PM
I've already posted this on the knitting forum, but I'm darn proud of it, so it's going on here too! It's not a prom dress, but here in Canada we don't exactly have a prom every year, we have a Semi-Formal. I knit it out of about 4 shades of blue/green RIBBONS on size US 15 and 50 needles. It's one of my favourite pieces to date. It was also a featured project here on craftster not too long ago!

5  Do you love octopi like I love octopi? in Stenciling: Completed Projects by aboutagirlnamedalex on: June 25, 2006 07:33:29 PM
inspired by this post http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=63647.0, i substituted with my favourite animal, the octopus, plural being octopi. I just used a stencil and cheapo fabric paint and my secret weapon for all stencilling, a makeup sponge. I also distressed the polo a bit at the end just to make it that much cooler. cheers.

7  Fun Flowy Dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by aboutagirlnamedalex on: January 04, 2006 03:36:38 PM
My cousin got married back in October, so with three days before the wedding, i decided it would be a good idea to make something to wear. Since i hate patterns, i just whipped this little number up in about an hour, using an old curtain that's been in my fabric stash for years. It's probably one of my favourite creations to date. Enjoy!

8  My Knit Ribbon Dress!! in Knitting: Completed Projects by aboutagirlnamedalex on: January 04, 2006 03:04:30 PM
This dress is probably one of my favourite accomplishments. I designed and created it on my own, and just had to share it. I wore it to my school's annual Christmas Semi-Formal and everyone kept saying "Shut up! You DID NOT make that!". I hope you like it. PS - it's knit from ribbon in four different shades of blue/greens. I knit the top on US 15 needles and the bottom on US 50 (or something ridiculous like that, pretty much the largest ones i could find). Thanks!
