1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Angela and Sarah's Gay Pride Scarf. on: March 12, 2009 07:04:30 AM
I got the inspiration for this scarf from a post on this forum that I saw a long time ago.  It was for a Neapolitan scarf, brown, pink and white.  I just cast on a lot of stitches(a think the number was 240) with good old red heart worsted weight onto size 8 circulars.  Garter stitch switching colours every four rows, cast off.  Weave in ends add fringe.    That's it.

Karen I love that sock monkey hat,  I haven't gotten brave enough to tackle it myself.  You'll have to post pictures when you do finish it.

The booties are a little tricky, if you're new to knitting they may be difficult, but super quick once you've got it down.  The pattern comes from Stitch n' Bitch Nation by Debbie Stoller.  The Bonnet is pretty easy as long as you know how to crochet a circle.  Here is a link to that pattern: http://www.coatsandclark.com/Crafts/Crochet/Projects/BabyChild/LT1588+Crochet+Sweet+Pea+Bonnet.htm

It's from lion brand.  They actually have a whole line of Amigurumi Animals on their website.
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Home made advent calendar on: February 28, 2009 04:16:43 PM
I made this for my children after a disappointing attempt to find customizable advent calendar. I didn't want to go with the cheap box of chocolate with the little tear open windows.  I saw some at a department store that was a box with little drawers or doors to open, but they didn't seem very sturdy and were barely big enough for two tic tacs, hardly worth the $30-$50 dollars they were charging.   The pyramid boxes found at the dollar store were my inspiration.  I filled them with finger puppets and candy(buttons, necklaces, suckers and mini chocolate bars) and hung them some dollar store garland.  Added stickers numbered 1-24 and let the count down begin.

9  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Mandi's Orange You Glad It's Reversible? Purse or The Citrus Punch Purse on: February 28, 2009 03:57:17 PM
I crocheted this purse for my friend and co-worker Mandi.  Se was going through my crochet and kitting books and fell in love with the "Orange you Glad" purse.  I told her I would give a shot but I had never done any color change other than stripes.  I finished the the first orange and decided the it needed a lining in order to be effective.  Then it occurred to me that I was essentially going to be crocheting another purse so why not make it reversible?  The decision to change the handle came when I found these  cool acrylic ones at Joann.  It turned out kind of bulky.  But Mandi loves it.

I made these booties as part of a set.  They were almost too cute to give away.

It's hard to tell with the blurriness of the photos but the buttons are little white roses.

Here they are again with the crocheted "Sweet Pea Bonnet"
