Straight from the sideshow into your living room...


A real living girl with an arm of tentacles...
 

Mop cap created from scratch.  Opera length glove painted to match rubber tentacles from Archie McPhee.  Victorian bathing suit is a pair of shorts and a T-shirt embellished with grosgrain ribbon to make it look more old timey.  Knee highs purchased and shoes my own.

So for some reason I am incapable of buying a completed costume.  This leads to much frantic shopping, web research, crafting, and praying before the best night of the year...Halloween!

Made the mop cap, embellished the shorts and shirt with grosgrain ribbon to make them more like a Victorian bathing suit, painted the opera length glove to match my tentacles, made the sash (vinyl letter stickers on satin...no iron on lettering would stick to the satin...doh!), threw on som knee highs and black flats and viola!

I co-hosted my sister-in-laws baby shower and made a bunch of decorations for the party.  These were my favorite and were really popular with the mom-to-be and the grandmas-to-be.



The centers were made out of opaque shrinky dink paper that can go through the printer.  The elephant images are from the baby's bedding as are the sage green and brown colors.

I really enjoyed making them!

Star Trek Red Shirt Zombie


Pink Flamingo

Most of our costumes are handmade.  I made his shirt...started out as a basic long-sleeved red t-shirt.  I cut off the cuffs and shortened it so that it looked more like a Star Trek uniform.  I also added a black v-neck to the shirt.  The big hole is supposed to look like a phaser burn hole.  Here's what the wound looked like...


It's basically tissue paper, glue and body paint but it looks sooooo nasty!

For my flamingo costume I made the mask, the headdress and the tutu.  I added featherd fringe to a t-shirt to look a bit like wings. 

All in all our costumes were a hit.  My hubby's wound feel off half way through the night, which was kinda funny, but other than that everything stayed put!

My dad's a Leo so I decided to make him a lion cake for his b-day. 



He's banana flavored with chocolate frosting...yum!

Visually, he's a composite of several lion's I found on line.

Just a couple of fused pendants I finally got around to wrapping. 



I really love the glittery green in the white center of the one second from the right...it will be hard to part with that one!

Being unemployed has really freed me up to finally pay some attention to my kiln...it was a kick in the glass so to speak! 

Here's a kiln full of night lights pre-fire...


They were all tack fused--my first time...they didn't soften as much as I would have liked so I think a re-firing is in their future.  For whatever reason I didn't photog 'em after the firing.  The lobster light has already gone to a friend who grew up in Maine.

Just took a class on wire wrapping cabs...this is my first piece.

I recently took an intro to wire working class at my local bead store and have been beading and wrapping like a lunatic.

I just finished this puppy tonight.  It's a birthday gift for one of my colleagues:
   
It's all natural stone (though for the life of me I can't remember the name of it...think it's a quartz).
