Swap name: Unique Name Swap - 2nd Edition

Craftster member who is organizing this swap: buglake
Sign-up date range: closed
Date to send item by: 8/8/2007

Details of swap:
Personally, I have never had a single thing with my name on it.  Never!  Since I am clearly not alone, it's time that we uniquely named crafty folks make great things for each other!

This swap is for all of us who never had anything personalized as a child.  Participants will personalize crafted items for their partner.  You must send one big item and 2 small items, or 3 small items, but if you want to send out more stuff, you are welcome to do so.

And yes, you can join if you do have a common name like Mary or Angela, because we can still personlize for you, too.

5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Animal Cracker Box Picture Frame - Roar!!!!! on: March 18, 2007 06:40:34 PM
Quicky project today:  Look at THESE wild Animal Crackers!

Instructions:
1) Buy Animal Crackers; open box carefully; eat them immediately.
2) Use Exacto knife to cut around the animal cages; save animals for possible future use
3) Hold special photo shoot with animals of your choice.  Warning:  Cats can be divas - some cat models won't even get off the couch for less that $10,000 a day.
4) Print photos; cut to size, glue into box and enjoy your non-edible Animal Crackers!  I also cut around the "Tigers" and glued it over the "Good Source of Calcium"

6  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / White Honda Elite Scooter - Blank Canvas! on: March 18, 2007 11:45:05 AM
Put your craft helmet on!

So, I have been jonesing to paint and make over my '01 Honda Elite 80 scooter since the day I got it (2/14/07), but have yet to hit an idea that has made me really excited.

Here is her story:
"Valentine's Day, my husband made plans for a little afternoon date.  He drove me to a tow yard.  <romantic>  There was my present - a white '01 Honda Elite 80.  Filthy dirty, covered in sticky tow yard crud, it was an impound that had seen sitting for a while.  The guy just wanted it out of his way, so we started it right up, loaded it on the truck and paid the guy $500.
I now have my blank canvas!
I think the Elite is soo ugly and dated looking, but I know that Hondas can take the beating I'm willing to give.  They hae been making this exact scooter with no changes at all since 1983.  The scooter reminded me of Rosie the Robot Maid on The Jetson's - so Rosie is her name!"

All her body panels snap off the framing, and she is entirely plastic.  There is slight cosmetic damage around the front headlight - I guess I'll have to sand, bondo and repair there.

Ideas
I have gotten mildly excited at cutting decals from contact paper and then spraying her a matt black or dark burgundy, then removing the decals for the white contrast.  I tossed around:
Stars; polka dots of varing sizes; 50's retro shapes; skulls...

I am not an arteeeist (French emphasis added), so freehand painting is a bit out of my realm.

HELP!  I'd love to hear some ideas!
7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Project Runway inspired Squid stenciled shirt on: August 13, 2006 12:50:51 PM
My first ever freezer paper stencil!
For you Project Runway geeks - you know that Bradley Baumkirchner was easily the most randomly quotable guy on Season 3.  To quote someone on Television Without Pity dot com, "See, to me Bradley's endearingly crazy, while Vincent is just unsettlingly crazy."

With that, I give you the BB quote tshirt stencil "I'm a squid with no ocean":

I have deep love for Bjork.  Now I have deep love for my Bjork monkey!  vote for her- it'll make her smile.

I was thinking of selling her... but I don't know that others would have true appreciation for her.  Thoughts?  Do you like her?

9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Customized Mexican Train Domino Station on: June 17, 2006 11:06:20 PM
Have you played Mexican Train dominos?
Well, we neighbors of Fir Street in San Diego LOVE our dominos and play nearly every weekend and EVERY time we go camping!!

So - I took our plastic train station from our domino set, sectioned out the 8 individual stations, and painted each with the color and address of the neighbor that belongs there and sealed the whole damn thing with some Mod Podge!

Here ya go:
