Love these!  I've got a ton of silk scarves just for this purpose, this makes me want to drop everything and do it now!

Doooo ittt!

13  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Completed Projects / Waldorf-Inspired Nature Table Playsilks on: July 14, 2011 05:13:06 PM
It's been a long time since I've pulled out the ol' dyes, but I've been wanting to make hand dyed playsilks for my son since before he was born!

I got all the silk blanks for Dharma Trading - I had about 12 35"x35" silks and then I picked up a small ton of 11"x11" handkerchiefs.  I used Jacquard Acid Dyes (since I have a small collection of them) and found that the silk LOVED the dyes.  They absorbed practically whatever I could throw at it and then some!

Anyway, these are some of my favorites:

They are a super fast and easy project and the results are awesome! I can't wait to get my nature table started with these!

15  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: WIP Wednesday - June 29 on: June 29, 2011 12:17:32 PM
Looking good, sarahj2001! I love the colors!

I haven't knit in FOREVER, but I AM in the process of reorganizing my craft room since we moved. I should snag a photo and upload it...

... here we go:

That's almost 10 wall feet of yarn... and that's not even all of it. :/

Anyway.  Playing with yarn, organizing it and fondling it just makes me realize how much I miss knitting. Smiley

The closest to a WIP I have is this blanket for Sprout:

Several weeks ago and it hasn't changed, at all.  In my defense, I just found the skein I wanted to use next, so once I get it wound into a ball, maybe I'll find some time to work on this more.  I'd really love to be able to finish it!

Is it okay to love *everything* about Craftster, or do I have to pick?

I'm actually enrolled in two separate classes, Calluna. There's one that's more clinically-focused and will take about 350 hours to complete.  I'm also enrolled in a class that's focused more on the traditional/folklore/spiritual roots of herbalism.  I guess I, more or less, decide when I'm ready to graduate but I think there are about 100 separate projects I have to complete first. Smiley

It sounds like Lana is having a blast, atsuko! Didn't you say, too, that there were more parties to come?

Calluna, when do you leave for your trip? You totally strike me as someone who should have a roaming gnome! I can't believe you don't!

BAH! I have been a crap craftster.

Me, too, loudxmouse! Cheesy

We've been so busy here. Between Sprout, moving and working, we sometimes don't have time to blink! I've also enrolled in classes to become a certified herbalist, so my kitchen is full of fun herbal experiments.  I LOVE it so far!

Loudxmouse, how did the dress fitting go? Smiley
