1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Polymer Clay Cane Swap (Signups March 8 - March 20; Send by April 10) on: March 08, 2006 03:20:33 PM
Swap name: Polymer Clay Cane Swap!!
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: flyleaf_lvr
Sign-up date range: March 8 - March 20
Date to send item by: April 10

Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): Nope

Non-U.S. participants allowed? Yes.

All ages allowed? Or 18+? All ages. I'm 11. I'm not going to exclude myself.

Organizer is aware of current list of "suspended traders"
list and will not allow those members to participate: YES

Organizer meets the 4 conditions for swapping and will make sure that every participant meets these conditions: YES

Details of swap:
In this swap, you make your partner 2-5 polymer clay canes based on their favorite colors/designs. I say 2-5 because that depends on the size of your canes. Some canes are huge, some are tiny, some take tons of work, some take almost none, etc. You can talk to your partner about how many or how much clay/work and come up with a good idea on how much to make. If you are good at polymer clay, PLEASE don't make a very long cane of a very simple design, put work into this!! That's why there are 21 days you can make your items in. If you are new at polymer clay, make lots of canes! Again, there are 21 days, so make use of the time!

Then, in the gallery, you can post pictures of your canes, and [here's the fun part] pictures of stuff you made from the canes! That way your partner can see how lovely their canes turned out when they're made into seomething.  Grin

Would you be willing to ship to an address outside of the US?
What are your favorite colors?
What type of design would you like to receive on your cane?
How good are you at polymer clay?
What is the hardest cane you can make?
If you are good at clay, would you mind receiving from a clay newbie? It would be good for them to see the work of a clay master! If not, that's fine:

2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Polymer Clay Cane Swap?? on: February 20, 2006 07:48:50 AM
It might be cool for the people who do polymer clay to do a cane swap where we just make our partner a cane or a few. Then in the gallery we could put pictures of our canes and if we've made some beads or jewelry or something out of them we could post that too.

Ok, people, even though this is a small swap, it deserves a gallery!!  Grin
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Random Knitted Bracelet Obsession on: January 19, 2006 07:16:44 PM
I have recently had this random obsession to knit bracelets/wrist cuffs. Anyone else ever had this or am I just crazy?
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Problem with kid's size patterns on: December 28, 2005 05:28:36 AM
Ok, so I want to knit a shrug. The only problem is: I wear a childrens size 14/16. Yes, I am that young. But I can't really find any shrug patterns that size. And all kids patterns I find, they're all made for little kids with weird yarn and intarsia puppies. Anyone know of any non-kiddish kid's shrugs?? Or anything to help me?
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Mininess! on: December 20, 2005 07:39:25 AM
I made some very tiny sweaters for my cousins' christmas gift. Here's one::

You may not be able to tell but I made a tiny clotheshanger out of wire for it as well. I embroidered my cousin's first initial on it too. I used baby bee eyelash yarn leftover from a pillow I made. The pattern is from Weekend Knitting by Melanie Falick. I will make a blue one for my other cousin soon. has anyone else made mini stuff??
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Felted Bag on: December 08, 2005 04:20:45 PM
Ok. My mom wants a felted bag for christmas. Got some questions (haven't felted before)

1. How much bigger than the actual size I want should it be?
2. How much yarn do I need?

I have some pure wool yarn. I think I have two 200 yd skeins. Thanx!

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Christmas Hotpads!!! on: November 08, 2005 06:44:13 AM

The wreath hotpad!

The candy cane hotpad!

And lastly, but not least(ly?) the tree!

These are all double knit so one side is the reverse side of the other. (So I made 3 hotpads, not 6) My puppy just destroyed the tree yesterday so Sad me sad. Oh well. Anyway, I used peaches and cream yarn (just the same as sugar and cream, but my hobby lobby was closed and desperate me went to wal-mart) in the red variagated (did I spell that even close to correctly?) and the green variagated.
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Teddy Bear!! on: October 17, 2005 05:27:36 PM
I made this teddy bear for an unborn baby:

And I have like the crappiest $20 camera ever and this was taken with the flash on, so excuse the quality.

There's hardly any sewing together, you just sew two sides together, but lots of annouing increasing/decreasing, etc. I got the pattern from a book called kids knitting.
