11  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Ideas for "Assembly Line" Gifts?? on: August 22, 2007 08:10:53 AM
Last year my friend and I had the same idea... We're grad students and we wanted something fairly easy, cheap, personal and yet still appropriate for family, bosses, and coworkers. We made gifts in a jar. Soups, cookies, and hot coco. You can get glass jars at the $ store even if you look hard enough. I recommend doing one or two soups though. We did 3 soups, 1 cookie and 1 drink and even though it was a good assembly line process, it was kinda confusing. I'm going to repeat it this year and just do 2 soups. We added everything up and it turns out to be much less than $10 a jar. Don't buy the books, if you don't want to. You can find all the soup recipes on AllRecipes.com.
12  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Christmas Challenge '07 on: August 08, 2007 08:08:07 PM
I'm glad I'm not the only one already planning christmas! My friends here think I'm nuts. I try to do as much homemade as possible. Here's what I got planned so far:

Mom: painted photo frame with shells, a wooden box in the shape of a book titling it "There and back again, a daughter's tale" and decoupage-ing memory stuff on the inside

Dad: an advent calender inspired by burstandbloom http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=132553.0 with all gifts being shrinky dink ornaments to go onto a small tree.

Not much, but I've already spent a ton at Michael's! Sheesh.

Oh! This is my first post too! Woo!
