1  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Urban Outfitters Shirtdress-A-Long! on: February 17, 2008 07:01:53 PM
Love Urban Outfitters but hate the price tag? Do you have an extra large men's shirt that you've been meaning to modify? Then this is the thread for you! Here's where we will chronicle our endeavors to recreate this shirtdress. Since there are no available patterns for this particular dress, you'll have to modify a shirt and/or skirt pattern. Luckily there's help!

BurdaStyle has posted this lovely pattern for a shirt and a skirt that you might find helpful (Thanks pfirsch!).

If you're the kind of Craftster whose money seems to burn a hole in her/his pocket, fear not! There are several patterns that you can purchase.
   Vogue 8252
   McCall's 5138
   McCall's 5322
Burda 7967 is a standard shirtdress one could modify.
Thanks to mystico_tala, lauraborealis, and sweet_apple_pie for finding these patterns!

And that's it! Sew away, me beauties!
2  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Completed Projects / Hand Silk-Screened T-shirts For Music Fest on: February 04, 2008 12:30:13 PM
These are pretty old but I thought I'd post 'em anyway. I printed these back in July of 2006 for a little music festival some friends and I put on.

The design really isn't that fuzzy-lookin', I swear...

The HUGE text says "WU & You Festival". We named it after the local coffeehouse, Wired and Unplugged (W&U, get it?) It was a charity thing -- half the proceeds went to the aforementioned coffeehouse (hence the name) and half went to the local Boys and Girls Club. And the text in the little circle is the list of performers -- Sean Knox, The Senate, Rory Corbin and the Salmon Claws, and Lost Autumn Gypsy. "and", "the", and "claws" kinda got the shaft, but hey, we were hand-screening these babies -- no press or anything. I based the design off of the poster art by Celia Baker (a mighty rad lady). So with that...

Support your local independant music, peeps! And coffee shops!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / First Project Post, Yo -- Felted Bag on: February 04, 2008 11:16:10 AM
Hello there! I finally bothered to take pictures of some of the stuff I've made and thought I'd post some of it here. So i present you with...

A FELTED BAG. Note the little buttons...

It's made from Cascade Eco-Wool, and based off of the messenger bag pattern in Knitting For Peace.

I made these buttons myself using a friend's handy-dandy button making machine. I used real birch bark (given to me by my friend's freakishly adorable son) and some illustrations from an old book. I'm a bit of a button-making addict, so I'm always looking from places (or people) to stick them.

...And that's that!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Urban Outfitters Shirtdress -- Pattern Ideas? on: February 03, 2008 11:00:04 PM
I was wondering if anybody knew of a pattern for a dress like this: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp;jsessionid=56D4C6CF1B2FFAD804CAAD3637870171.app13-node1?itemdescription=true&itemCount=8&id=14266175&parentid=W_APP_DRESSES&sortProperties=+product.marketingPriority,-product.startDate&navCount=3&navAction=poppush&color=01

Any help would be appreciated, yo.
