1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Few projects on: October 26, 2008 02:13:53 PM

This started out as the metal bangle from Bead and Button some issues back but turned out rather different, entirely LOL. I used this same pattern as the starting point for the Delta bangle that I posted pix of, earlier in the year.

My pix aren't great but there are tiny bronze hexcuts that aren't obvious, in person. However, when the light hits the bracelet, they glitter. I used gunmetal metal beads on this as well as silver-lined crystals.
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Faux Jabot on: March 20, 2008 09:52:37 AM
This is from the February 2005 issue of Bead and Button. I love it...it sparkles like mad. What I am disappointed in are the fringes. They simply do not hang/lay straight. I tried unwaxed Fireline and waxed Fireline; I tried stretching it unwaxed, then waxing it; I tried stretching it and using it with no wax. Bah! I wonder if Nymo would make the difference (although my beloved husband pointed out that, in the mag, her fringe didn't exactly hang straight, either LOL)

Anyway, it's Swarovski bicones, silver lined clear triangles, silver lined dark grey and light grey seed beads. I'm trying to find a way to get a very close-up pic that isn't blurry so you can see detail. If I get that done, I'll add it to this thread.

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Neptune's Eye on: March 20, 2008 09:45:21 AM

This is just freeform. I like it but I envisioned more and didn't know how to get from vision to production so I wound up with this LOL
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Delta bracelet on: January 03, 2008 11:40:23 AM
Using the pattern for the metal bead bangle in a recent Bead and Button, I altered the pattern some to come up with this bracelet. For those that don't know, this is a sorority comprised of mostly educators, IIRC. At any rate, it's a gift for one of the teachers that works for me. Unfortunately, I made it too big for her so I am now in the process of adding another layer of the mesh INSIDE the bracelet. I will go halfway around and let her try it on again.

The white banding you see to the left and right goes all the way around the back of the bracelet. It is the same row as the lettering.
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Sparkly stuff--buncha pix--new bracelet added! on: October 05, 2007 12:47:47 PM
**New pix are at further down.
Sorry for the slight fuzz--I'm still trying to master my camera LOL

6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Using long lengths of thread on: June 26, 2007 10:28:00 PM
I've been merrily stringing away these last few months, following patterns from various sources.

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how people use multiple yards of beading thread and not tangle/get caught/etc.

I've given up on using more than about two feet of thread especially the clear nylon...Sad Needless to say, that makes for a lot of ends to weave in, depending on the pattern.

Any tips?
7  UNITED STATES / Washington, D.C. / Yarn/Craft Stores on: April 18, 2007 09:45:44 PM
Heading to DC on Sunday for a few days and will be staying at the Capitol Hilton. What's around? I don't recall seeing any chain craft stores nearby..how bout LYS or other craft supply places? Beading places?

Thanks!
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Dressy Spring Jacket on: February 22, 2007 08:53:10 PM
This is from the latest Family Circle crochet mag. It's for my godmother Smiley I used the NoBo yarn that I got on sale in WM last year--the pink/white yarn is very, very soft. The silver yarn is from a Yarnball, also bought on sale. (I refuse to pay full price for yarn).

This jacket is ..different ..but then again, so is my aunt Smiley
