301  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Almost done! on: June 30, 2006 12:32:38 PM
I wanted to show you all what I've worked on the last week or two. I originally started on one of the sweaters in a freeform crochet booklet from LA, I think it was. But, as I completed tons of the "pieces," I realized I really was not in the mood to piece them together as a sweater LOL

So I thought--workbag! I bought two circular brass rings to use for handles...but realized that I likely won't be able to use them the way I envisioned so I am going to work two freeform handles from some of the rest of the "pieces" I have made. The bag also needs to be lined, yet...I have some dark blue jersey/tshirt material that I will likely use.

EDIT: I removed the pics as I used them in another thread!

I think it's lovely and a very creative way to use scraps rather than making an afghan!!
It would look great with jeans or black pants..heck, even a skirt Smiley

Thank you for sharing with us!

Those hexagons are almost exactly like the ones used in the Heavenly Daydreams bedcover pattern that's available free somewhere on the internet. I am halfway through making it, so when I saw your shawl, I recognized the motif LOL

It's lovely...I wonder what it would look like in a multicolor yarn...I'm trying to visualize as I have some black and white...
304  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Chan Luu scarf .... $115 on bluefly.com on: November 11, 2005 12:16:49 PM
I think this would work:

Make the first motif--they really do look like squares except that there doesn't seem to be the ch 2 or 3 between the stitches in the corners that you'd find in a granny square. When you create the next motif, on the last row, at a corner, chain one, sl or sc into the corner of the first square, ch 1, then continue working on the second square. When you create the third one, do the same thing, and so on. Just be sure that you are joining them in a diagonal way, as in the scarf.

At least I think that would work LOL I love working in motifs simply because I can carry my work anywhere and it can be contained in my regular purse instead of carting around a separate workbag Smiley
