1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Walmart says they're bringing back fabrics! on: June 27, 2011 05:52:05 AM
My local WM has been moving stuff around the store, for the last month; moving aisles of things from back of store to front, and vice-versa.

Lo and behold, they have made room, once again, for fabric! I know that WM is bringing fabric back, but I wonder if it is coming back to ALL stores.

At any rate, it's too early to see just how much they are carrying; all that is in place is a cutting table and some bolts of fabric, thus far.

I don't sew a lot, but I am excited Smiley

Spooktacular!

I don't think I've posted this previously. It's also from Bead and Button (I love that mag). I like to follow patterns for awhile, then eventually, I will deviate or improvise. I'm just not really good at thinking up patterns on my own.

I did this is pearl white and AB crystal bicones, too. Will post a pic if I can find the bracelet Tongue

This started out as the metal bangle from Bead and Button some issues back but turned out rather different, entirely LOL. I used this same pattern as the starting point for the Delta bangle that I posted pix of, earlier in the year.

My pix aren't great but there are tiny bronze hexcuts that aren't obvious, in person. However, when the light hits the bracelet, they glitter. I used gunmetal metal beads on this as well as silver-lined crystals.

I love paisley, and your choice of colors is perfect!! Nice work Smiley

Yea, I made sure the flower was there. The yellow bracelet closeup came out fine; other closeups for items I haven't yet posted came out crummy. I am just gonna have to play with it some.

Thank you for the nice words!
I should clarify about the fringe not hanging straight--I think it's the beads. They are silver lined light grey transparent (they look silver) but they are not Delicas. I think that their slight lack of uniformity tricks the eye. When I am wearing the necklace, the strands don't appear straight because the beads don't stack perfectly. Something I will keep in mind when I make the next one, for sure!

Green is my fave color...I've been eyeing leaf beads for months now...maybe it's time to buy them LOL
Lovely!!! Thank you for sharing Smiley

One more new:

10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Faux Jabot on: March 20, 2008 09:52:37 AM
This is from the February 2005 issue of Bead and Button. I love it...it sparkles like mad. What I am disappointed in are the fringes. They simply do not hang/lay straight. I tried unwaxed Fireline and waxed Fireline; I tried stretching it unwaxed, then waxing it; I tried stretching it and using it with no wax. Bah! I wonder if Nymo would make the difference (although my beloved husband pointed out that, in the mag, her fringe didn't exactly hang straight, either LOL)

Anyway, it's Swarovski bicones, silver lined clear triangles, silver lined dark grey and light grey seed beads. I'm trying to find a way to get a very close-up pic that isn't blurry so you can see detail. If I get that done, I'll add it to this thread.
