I can hardly believe it.  Before reading that the birthday boy was 6' 2", I thought you'd taken a pic of a 2-year old on the blanket.  The blanket is HUGE!!!!  And FABULOUS!

Not knowing much about shoes, but having dealt with laminate before, I feel like it won't do what you want.   Are these for a short time on stage or something?  Otherwise, I see laminate alone being problematic. 

I liked glamboots' foam idea.

Yes!  Constant foot-bouncing on the base of my office chair = scraped-up heels.  I fixed them with  Mod Podge (matte) and remnants of lightweight pleathery-stuff.    It worked great.

Props to you by the way for your boot and salvage skills.   I am definitely in line for your DVD when you make it.

Ok, I have some leather needles now--must check around with friends' sewing moms for that special foot.

Thank you for the tip on length, I definitely won't try to lengthen it now.  I actually think it is the right length.  Hard to tell in the pic, but the actual leather on the Wilson is only 2 inches shy of the knockoff's length.  The jacket is so wide and a medium, it plays eye tricks.

She does like vintage, but you're right that the sleeves need to change. It needs a kick in the pants!
