1  Re: Random Artist Trading Card Swap Gallery!!! in The Swap Gallery by absenceofcolour on: October 31, 2005 11:01:44 AM
Ooh, I love all the cards. That science series was such a unique idea, too. And I'm a bio major, so naturally I love it.

I love your use of lace, ohmyword, it looks so pretty! That woven one is awesome.

And, maps, I really like all of yours as well. The Suprise Party ones are very pretty. Hehe, though I like the one I got (Purple Sky, Yellow Rain) the best.  Grin

I know a few of my cards were received, but heres the lot of 'em.

I got another 2 today!

Science #4 by glitteratti

and Untitled by girlwonder

Love them both! This is so fun!

I've received 6/9 so far, now. My mailbox has been overflowing this week, and I have just this tiny little thing, too, so not much fits to begin with. Between the ATCs and birthday cards (tomorrow, yay!), I think the postwoman has quite a hard time fitting it all in.  Grin

6  Pattern (Butterick 4443) Help? in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by absenceofcolour on: October 14, 2005 07:39:58 PM
I'm sewing with Butterick pattern 4443, here's the link:

http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/butterick/shop.cgi?s.item.B4443=x&TI='4443'&page=1

I'm making dress "A", which would be the one in the bottom left in that picture, the floral strapless one.

I'm making the bodice part out of black satin, and it is interfaced and such as the pattern directs. I'm at step 4 (not very far, yikes!) and I'm quite confused. I'm sewing the 2 front sides to the front center. I've scanned in the step and the picture. I guess the part that confuses me is where it talks about "clipping bodice front as necessary." I've pinned numerous times, and if I match the notches, it bulges. I've tried basting once, and it just looked mutated.  Undecided  Luckily it was just basting. If I do have to clip it, how and where do they mean? I've never ran into anything like this before.

The first picture is what the center front piece looks like, the second is the step, and its illustration.

Any ideas and suggestions would be great!

7  Simple (and cheap, yay!) Skirt + Bag in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by absenceofcolour on: August 24, 2005 09:54:23 PM
Hi, new to this forum, this here is my first post.

Just made this today, decided to show some pics. Just a really simple patterned skirt, fully lined, with the lacy trim. I picked up the fabric as a remnant, 34 inches, which meant I had to use the width, so I had to make it very straight. It cost me a grand total of 4.93 USD after taxes and everything. And that's with the handbag included. And I still have some remnants of everything, the fabric, lining and lace.

(And I do realize there is a separate subforum for the bags, so if me posting that pic here is a no-no, just tell me!)
