2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: -->TUTORIAL<-- Baby Bear and Kitty Hat (1st post ^^) on: November 26, 2008 08:57:52 AM
Ok woah, I haven't checked back in this thread for ages!
All your hats are amazing, it's so awesome to see that my tutorial is being put to good use ^^

woodland_faerie: I haven't thought about this pattern for a long time so I had to stop to think what I did back then cause the measurements didn't make sense at first to me either xD
For the width of the main hat pieces I would use your head circumferance 26" divided by 4 and then add half an inch to each side of each piece for seam allowance. That should work. For the height of the hat just put a tape measure to the crown of your head and measure how far down you want your hat to come but remember there will be some more inches added with the headband part. Add a seam allowance to the bottom of that measurement too.
For the actual shaping of the hat pieces, I guess just try to get them in the same shape as on the diagram. There were no real measurements there, I just cut away until the piece looked right.

Hope that helps you somehow!

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Mermaid Tail Bag (img heavy ^^") on: March 29, 2007 06:11:33 AM
Hi!
So really this is a project I did in college but I like it so I'm posting it here :3 (not to say I don't like my other projects, this one just seemed appropriate)

We had a week for the project and were sent out to buy something from a charity shop and make something else out of it! Simple!
I found a strange childs dress/long top sort of thing with a weird sparkly blue fabric and an old ladys huuuuge sequined top Cheesy
For some reason they reminded me of a mermaid so I made a bag...in the shape of a mermaids tail! We could only use the materials we had though, not like buy anything new so I couldn't add a zip (which is highly annoying because you can't close it), I might still do that later now it's been assessed ^^

I'm afraid I can't find any pics of the clothes before except for this one were I had already taken it apart

Anyways here's the bag (please excuse the messy room and me xD)

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: -->TUTORIAL<-- Baby Bear and Kitty Hat (1st post ^^) on: December 25, 2006 07:15:52 AM
Hiya!
It's nice to see somebody still look at my ancient thread xD (just got a message)
The baby hat I made was for a baby of about 3 months old, and it fitted her perfectly when she got it but grew out of it ever so quickly. I guess it really depends on how old the kid is your making it for, but making it bigger is definetly a good idea!
Anyways I dug my old pattern out incas this helps you in any way:

The main hat 'triangles' were each 4 inches (10,5 cm) high and 4 1/2 (11,5) at the bottom. They overlap 1,5 cm on each piece on the front panel so joined it would be about 8" (20 cm) along the bottom. The headband piece should be around 18 (46 cm).

Those were just the measurements I used ^^ I think your best bet is taking a tape measure and make a ring to figure out the lengh of the headband first then make the other pieces according to that measurement.

Hope that helped in some way xD'
9  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Re: Promalong - Making your own Prom dress? Join the club! on: March 31, 2006 08:28:49 AM
Ok so my Prom is in June and I know I want to make my own dress, but I totally do not have a clue what it should look like v.v
I want to do something, sort of original, not your standard Prom dress but I really do not know where to start .___. So has anybody here ever done an original (read=weird) dress. Or does anybody have any links to any good prom dress sites (with LOTS of pictures) ? I really don't have a clue and any form of help would be greatly appreciated! <3
