I think it was a 10 or 15 minute drive to Lake Tapp for us... I lived in Sumner

I really like it!  Your color scheme is nice and none of the colors seem to be isolated in one area of the painting... there's bits and pieces of color drawn into each surface.  The mood is great, too--it's not just any other bland, lifeless self portrait.

I think it's the light blues in the face that are throwing me off a little bit. In general, shadows are cooler and highlights are warmer.  To have such a cool highlight on the face gives it a bit of an eerily dead appearance, which may or may not be what you're looking for.  If you were to replace it with a warm yellow sorta akin to what's going on in the hair, that might liven your skin tones up a bit.  The green on the forehead might be a bit excessive too... not that the green is a bad choice of color, but it's a bit isolated on the face and I don't see any color that chromatic anywhere else, so your eye is drawn to it.

I've only been here for a few months, I'm a freshman living in the Schottenstein dorms.  My tentative major is illustration, but that's probably going to change.   Tongue  I miss Seattle so much!  I miss seeing Mt. Rainier in the foggy sky when I walked to the bus stop, Lake Tapp and the Puget sound... it's bizarre to admit it, but I even miss the weather!

thanks so much.  well we like it here so far, but i want to see snow.  and it just so happened to snow a whole bunch back home over this week.  it has been all over the news.  it is the worst snow storm washington has had in a long time.  when i lived there my entire life we were lucky to get 1-2 inches and that was only for one day out of the year.  in addition it would melt half way through the day.  i can;t believe it!  i know it will snow here, that is what everyone says.  i just cant wait!!!

This doesn't have much to do with the thread's original topic, but I thought your situation was so weirdly similar to mine that I just had to comment.  Quite a while back I moved from Seattle to the NE and now to CCAD in Columbus.  We rarely got any snow in Seattle and talking to my old friends is making me quite bitter about the fact that they have bushels to enjoy and/or hate.  All we get here in Columbus is freezing rain and crazy wind.   Angry  Gah, I want some snow!

For neon colours, try either Stargazer or Kryolan (depending on how much you want to spend, kryolan being the expensive one)

I ended up using stargazer, it was literally the only neon orange that I could find, haha.  Sorta cheapo quality, but it went on ok after my roommate told me to put chapstick on my eyelids first.

The funny part is that I had no clue that it glowed under blacklight until people kept running up to me yelling that they could see me from all the way across the dance floor.

Awesome, but is it still useable? If so, theres my next project

If you popped all of the keys off first, don't paint too thickly, and seal them well, it should be perfectly usable.

Quick question... is there anywhere in chain stores or online that I can find neon orange eyeshadow that isn't ridiculously expensive?  I'm looking to be a sexy ooma looma (haha) for halloween and I can find every wonderfully obnoxious neon color except for orange!

Hair stylists tend to be a bit overly cautious when it comes to bleaching hair because they don't want angry customers regardless of whether or not they were properly warned.  Without being able to see or feel your hair, I'm just going to venture to say that you shouldn't be too attached to your length if you're willing to take the risk of bleaching it again.  It's very possible that you won't have any problems at all, though.

You can do coontails freehand with a small hair dye brush, but it's so much easier to use tape.  Just make sure that it's a very low adhesive tape (like blue painter's tape) so that you don't go ripping your hair out, aacckkk.

Good luck with mixing the orange, I've never had much luck with doing that with hair dye.  Your red needs to be a warm red (aka yellow-based, not blue-based and magenta-y) or you'll get a dull, brownish mess.  All the other colors ought to mix fine as long as they're in the right order, it's just that orange is a huge pain in the butt.

home, on my back.

I love the WV tattoo!  I can definitely appreciate the statement, too.  If the star is where you live, then you're rather close to me.  Odd little coincidence, hah.

I've been growing out a bad haircut for a while, and now I'm ready to get it restyled. My hair is thick, slightly wavy, but I straighten it. I really liked this girl's cut. She has similar hair to mine.

Haha!  No advice here, but before I read the rest of your message my first thought was "wow, she looks so much like that chick from  What Not To Wear..."
