1  Vintage Button Jewelry in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by facelikeallama on: January 24, 2010 08:32:00 PM
I've been having a lot of fun lately playing with my obscene collection of vintage buttons and I just wanted to show you guys what I've come up with!  Getting these photographed and put on etsy was one of my new years resolutions and I'm pleased with the results!  Lemme know what you think Smiley

Thanks for looking and I'd really appreciate some feedback!

2  Re: Show Off Your Hair! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by facelikeallama on: May 18, 2007 10:17:07 PM
So, I recently went from this

to this

Rather a depressing change; I sorta feel lost without my highly chromatic hair.  Since last October I've rotated through the colors of green, turqoise, blue, purple, and then finally pink, so it's been a while since I've had any brown.  I look a bit like a 12 year old girl, honestly.

I was thinking of getting a short pixie/peter pan cut when I go back to college in the fall, would that suit me at all?  The intention is that it'll be just long enough to put into a faux hawk so that I can dye it green and rock it out as the joker on Halloween.

3  Re: The Art of Makeup in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by facelikeallama on: October 28, 2006 08:18:51 PM
For neon colours, try either Stargazer or Kryolan (depending on how much you want to spend, kryolan being the expensive one)

I ended up using stargazer, it was literally the only neon orange that I could find, haha.  Sorta cheapo quality, but it went on ok after my roommate told me to put chapstick on my eyelids first.

The funny part is that I had no clue that it glowed under blacklight until people kept running up to me yelling that they could see me from all the way across the dance floor.

I was bored with my hair, so I attacked it with an assortment of leftover dyes.  I think it's Virgin Rose, Fishbowl, Manic Panic Ultraviolet, and a bit of some other Manic Panic pink dye.  Manic Panic has never worked well for me, but the SFX dyes I had wouldn't be nearly enough.

Hehe, I like to play with photoshop too.

I loovvveee your hair, grrrromit, especially with the orange in the last picture.  I confess, I'd hack my hair off exactly like that in a heartbeat if I were all... waif-y like you, haha.  Anti-waifs don't look so great in that cut, I think (or maybe it's just me).

In other news, I'm dyeing my hair right now!  Nothing drastic, I'm just dyeing my faded fishbowl streak purple and going over my red-brown hair with brown.  I'll post pictures later.

6  over-ambitiousness (asking for recs for sweater designing books) in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by facelikeallama on: April 28, 2006 09:04:47 PM
I've only been knitting for under a year and I've only completed one sweater... top-down raglan, at that, no seaming involved.  But... I can't help it!  Every sweater pattern I see has something wrong with it and I have way too many ideas for things that would be fun to knit.  I've seen books on the subject of designing sweaters, but I have no idea of what would be best... something clearly written, though, obviously.   Tongue

An idea...a top-down raglan with yo increases and maybe shaping somehow hidden into the yo curviness on the sides?  I don't know if that's possible (hence the book!)  How fun would this be over a coordinating color tank top?

Hee, I just my hair the other day turqoise and green.  You can't really see the turquoise so well in the picture, but it just looks like blue fading into green.  There's a couple old, faded pink streaks farther back.

So, yeah, enjoy the picture of me making a dorkish face.   Roll Eyes

Wee, I just dyed my hair a few days ago.    Grin  I used special effects virgin rose and left it in for like an hour (I got distracted!  Lips sealed)  It was crazy bright the first couple days and I love it, but just one warning... the dye did not stay in my un-bleached hair AT ALL.  It just washed out and came off on the collars of my shirts.

Before today my hair was shoulder length and a bit blah.  Everybody I asked before I got it cut told me it'd look bad, and now a few people have already told I was stupid to get it cut!  Jeeze, people are so negative.  I like it, stop raining on my parade!

Wonder what they'll say when I dye it green.   Roll Eyes

10  Re: new short 'do? help me find a style! in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by facelikeallama on: January 23, 2006 06:07:15 PM
It's been 2 years since I had my hair cut for Locks of Love.  I've been growing it out to donate again... and now Sabrina (7) and Abigail (5) are getting their's cut too! We have it all set up to get our hair cut on Feb 19th, at my co-leader's grandma's salon (we've invited all the Girl Scouts in our city to participate in the cut-a-thon)... Anyways, I want some ideas for my new hair cut.

Here are some pictures from the last time I had it cut (in the blue shirt ~ i was 8 months pregnant, LOL), and one picture from today showing the length again: http://revivemypc.com/photo/thumbnails.php?album=13

I bet this would look really cute on you, except a little bit shorter.  And with this hairstyle, you can still do the flippy thing every now and then if you're in the mood!
