21  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Empanadas! with pic ffffffff-at tutorial! on: March 21, 2010 07:04:51 PM
They look yummy! Here is a tip that I use when making empanadas ... I make the "pino" or the meat part of it the day before. That way it has a whole night at least to sit in the fridge and get nice and cold. The colder it is to work with, the less chance that you have of it leaking out when you cook it. ALSO ... I remove a lot of the liquid from it (but not all,cus you don't want it dry) before I put it in the fridge to cool ... also helps to stop them from opening and leaking out when cooking.
You can also try so many other things inside the empanada. That is the amazing thing about the empanada ... they are like little pockets of your favorite food. I have made a veggie version with spinach as well as a cheese one and my mom has made a seafood version.
Great that you posted the recipe ... I have so many friends that ask but I guesstimate when I make it so can m=never give a proper recipe ... I am going to pass this one along for sure!

I completely love it! The only thing that kinda bothers me are the placement of the clouds ... it makes that area too busy and competes with the banner. I would suggest placing a cloud to the right of the part where it says Eaglewood Golf Resort and then the other on the left side near the shoulder of the groom ... just my thoughts.

Thanks for the great tutorial!!! I can't wait to make some of these for my son. He is 6 and it was on his Christmas list but couldn't find any really cute ones. Now I can make a bunch ... and who knows ... maybe my daughter will like them too!
thanks again!

Hey ... maybe using melyssa_marie suggestion of printing an image on the back BUT instead keeping one side the art with your names on it (and maybe a cute quote that reflects your relationship?) and using the back for the details with much simpler  artwork ... Huh I think it would work better than squishing everything on one side.

awwwwwwwwww ... very cute! I think you should use it for sure but I would play a bit more with the placement of the words.

I would find a different tree to replace the first sample invite ... it is too jagged and doesn't really embrace the feel for a wedding. I would expect that on a Halloween invite maybe? When you think wedding and a tree to represent it ... it would be in my mind a full tree, alive, thriving and not like the one you chose. It is just not a happy looking tree. Think along the curves of your other two samples.
Just my 2 cents ... Smiley
