1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Valentine's Ornaments on: February 06, 2017 11:07:36 AM

Hey, guys! Long time, no craft. I took on PTA president of my kid's school in September and I have had NO TIME for myself or anything crafty since then. What a thankless job. I resigned last week. First, I drank champagne in the tub and then I hightailed it over to JoAnn's to buy some fabric and make something. I fell in love with the striped dish towel looking fabric first and decided I wanted to make some Valentines ornaments for the tree I couldn't bear to take down after Christmas.

They were super easy - I cut out a heart template from paper and then cut a ton of fabric hearts. Stitched them together with embroidery thread and filled them with a tiny bit of polyfill.

What do you think?

2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Swift Swap? on: January 29, 2015 12:10:48 PM
I am completely ashamed that I love Taylor Swift's new album 1989 and that I know all the words to "Shake It Off". Then I find this article which, for some reason, completely annoys me AND has me ROFLMAO at the same time. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/taylor-swift-trademarks-this-sick-beat-and-other-1989-phrases-20150128

I am hoping someone who isn't me wants to organize a Swift Swap, where we take lyrics from her songs and put them on "on everything from guitar straps and other accessories to removable tattoos." We could even emblazon "typewriters, walking sticks, non-medicated toiletries, Christmas stockings, "knitting implements," pot holders, lanyards, aprons, whalebone, napkin holders and the particularly ominous collection of 'whips, harness and saddlery'." Okay, maybe not the last three since I don't see it being a adults only swap...

3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Kids Craft and Sell on: November 20, 2014 02:04:51 PM
My daughter's school is having a holiday craft fair next month. Kid's table are free and she really wants to participate. Does anyone have any ideas for crafts simple enough for a 7 year old to do that would sell? I've found a few ideas on pinterest, but thought I would pick your crafty brains as well.
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / VW Swap on: March 10, 2011 06:30:48 PM
Who doesn't love volkswagens? Beetles, bugs, buses, things, type 3s. Their just so cute! We can craft stuff featuring VWs or stuff for VWs (for those who are lucky enough to be driving them). I've got some super cute VW things in recent swaps.

If someone wants to organize, go for it! Otherwise, I might look at starting one in April with send outs in May. But, if I organize it'll have to have a pretty limited number of participants.
5  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Not getting emails when I receive a PM on: October 22, 2010 09:38:33 AM
Is anyone else having this problem? I've only received 2 emails for PMs, but when I log on I always have a bunch of unread ones. I don't always log on to Craftster, because I get an email for each topic post and can follow along that way. I logged on and turned my notification off and on again in hopes that it would start working again, but it didn't help. Anything else I can try to solve this problem?
6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Best Friends! on: September 27, 2010 11:17:49 AM
Remember those charms you had in middle school? The ones where you gave one half to your bestie and kept the other for yourself? Well, since I'm a little old to be wearing those, I was inspired by the hoopla swap to make these for my BFF's birthday. I let her choose one, and I kept the other for my hoopla wall. C/C welcome!

7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Banned Books Swap? on: June 27, 2010 08:02:48 PM
I don't know how I ended up there, but I was browsing the banned books list http://www.ala.org/ala/issuesadvocacy/banned/bannedbooksweek/ideasandresources/free_downloads/2009banned.pdf and thought it could be the basis for a fun swap. We could craft around our favorite banned books, or make t-shirts or library totes that brag about how we read banned books.

I'm not up for organizing, but I thought I'd throw it out there. Maybe someone else will run with it...
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Fitness Freak Swap? on: April 19, 2010 05:56:37 PM
I've been going to the gym a lot lately, and would love some crafty stuff to show off while I'm there. I'm thinking yoga mat bags or straps, decorated yoga blocks, water bottle cozies, painted/stenciled/or otherwise embellished shirts/tanks/pants, headbands and hair ties, zipper bags to keep your gym bag organized, a way to keep your mp3 player on your arm (not sure what it's called).

I'm sure you guys have a million other ideas.
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Spring Gardening Swap? on: January 03, 2010 10:13:25 PM
I've been pouring over seed catalogues and dreaming of Spring and planting my garden. I could use some Craftster-made swag to help get me in the mood!

We could swap aprons, garden markers, painted pots, spiffy gardening gloves, homemade earth-friendly insect repellent, labels for canning, even seeds!

There is no way I'd be able to organize, but I thought I'd throw it out there. I hope someone will grab the ball and run!
