I got my package from dreadlocklove a week ago. She sent me a gorgeous head scarf in my colors. I get so many compliments wearing this around town.

a hand painted mug (owls are one of my things).

a pound of coffee that I know I will love. It is called Kootenay Crossing and says that it is light, lively, caramel, and sensual. I finally got my reusable K cups for the Keurig and cannot wait to have this coffee. She also included a beeswax candle in a mason jar and some local (to her city) honey, which I have already enjoyed in my tea.

Thank you so, so much, Jessica. I loved swapping with you and will do it again any time!

PS, sorry the longways pics are so big, guys.  Huh

2  Re: Box of Sunshine Gallery (SO Feb 17) in The Swap Gallery by dharma_rebel on: February 26, 2014 02:26:57 PM
My sunshine came! alteredmommy made me a box of sunshine that couldn't be more perfect for me. I tore off the packaging to reveal...

An orange polkadot DVD sized storage box packed to the brim with sunshine!

My daughter and I started pulling out one thing after another, laughing and oohing and ahhing.
There was this beautiful knit cowl. I wish I would have gotten a close up of the yarn, because it has these tiny sparkly sequins all over it. I wore it to school yesterday and got a ton of compliments.

There were these awesome orange and turquoise fabric coiled hot pads and an orange fabric coiled bowl. These are for my orange and turquoise Craftster kitchen. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and love being surrounded by stuff from swaps.

Here's a side view of the bowl with the cute buttons.

Extras included this fabulous yarn, displayed on the bottom of the storage box, where alteredmommy pasted this gorgeous paper.

And a craft load of other stuff!!! Paper straws, tea in a cool pyramid, lip balm disguised as a bear, a beeswax candle, soap, snacks, emergen-C, one of those cute little yarn dolls, and a lemonade scented marker! She also handed down a book on collage. We will have fun with that.

But, the one I've been saving for last is this amazing little sign that says "Every little thing is gonna be alright". I have these lyrics tattooed on my arm, and this is basically my  mantra.

thank you so much, alteredmommy for my box of sunshined!!!

4  Re: Box of Sunshine Swap (SU - Jan 17, SO - Feb 17) in ACTIVE SWAPS WHERE SIGN-UP PERIOD HAS CLOSED by dharma_rebel on: January 15, 2014 07:40:21 PM
Yesterday was a long day hanging out with a couple of grumpy kids. I dropped my daughter off at ballet and waited for her to get into class. As I was buckling the toddler I was babysitting in (for the fourth time on the ride) my friend came running out of the studio. She had seen me pinning all these sunshiny things and saw these cloth napkins at the thrift store and got them for me!

5  Re: Make-a-Friend Round 10: The Gallery in The Swap Gallery by dharma_rebel on: August 10, 2013 06:38:46 PM
Mkay... so apparently, all I had to do to fix the camera on my phone was shut it down and turn it back on. So, I may be posting pics late but that in no way reflects on how much I LOVE everything. I was lucky enough to get the uber talented Mountains and Clouds as a partner. She resides in the beautiful state of Hawaii and her package reflects her tropical surroundings.

Here is all the loot in one pic. In the background is a gorgeous sarong/butt cover in my favorite colors. Hawai'ian sea salt! I can't wait to cook something with it. A shell lei for me (Marley has been wearing her's non-stop). An amazing embroidered photograph. Why have I never thought to do this before? A photo album of her darling Blythes. Thank you (that was sarcasm) because now my almost 6 has been watching Littlest Pet Shop and thinks she NEEDS a Blythe doll. Totally cute Asian stamp and erasers, PLUS some hand carved stamps of her favorite animals! Fabulous pocket/purse sized notebooks upcycled from greeting cards and old ATCs. A CD of her husband's Johnny Cash tribute band - cause music is their life! Also, the obligatory shot glass.

Here are some closer shots

One of the little notebooks with an awesome Bob Marley quote.

The stamps!!! And cool Asian stuff!!!

That embroidered photo. So frigging cool.

Thanks so much, Sara! I am hard at work on package 3 and trying to figure out what to do for package 2...
Now I can go browse the gallery cause I no longer feel guilty.

So sorry for the delay in posting pics. I got my package and then, well, life happened. Thank you Mercury retro...
Without further ado, here are the lovelies I received from donniesgirl

Ceres Delight (scrub/mask for face and body) I used this yesterday on my face. It's feeling so soft. I suppose I should have taken a pic with the mask on.  Wink  Also Ocean Lavender Treatment (cleansing for face and body), Gardeners hand scrub - I can't wait to use this today, and a lavender rug/carpet powder that will get used after each visit from my parents (and their dog). Not pictured because it didn't survive the journey is coconut lavender oil. But it sure made the package smell heavenly!

Chai tea eye pillow that smells amazing, smudge sticks that she made herself! I'm really looking forward to using those. LABELS!!! I've never had labels for my sewing projects before. These are beautiful!!! I'm not excited at all!!!11!!!1!! A packet of bluebonnet seeds (the Texas state flower), yummy teas (including her son's favorite tea for my daughter)

A book "Desserts from an Herb Garden". I can't wait to share this with the mamas today while our kids are spending time in the garden with their Young Roots club.

Gathering apron down...

All tied up! I cannot wait to use this in the garden!!!

Thank you so much. I had so much fun crafting for this swap and love everything I received. I cannot wait to join this one again!

7  Re: Book of Shadows Round 3 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by dharma_rebel on: June 24, 2013 09:11:55 PM
I got my package from Mandykaye today! It was so hard not to just tear into it, but I got my kid settled in with Kiki's Delivery Service and a snack and THEN tore into it! Forgive the pic heaviness of the post. Actually, don't. Just check it out. Wink

First, I opened up to not one, but three, THREE hand painted altar clothes!

this one is already on my altar.

this one is in my favorite colors

I just think these are so cool!

Then, there was this fabulous old wooden box with extras in it

But I thought it would be perfect for my homeless tarot cards.

Carved stamps - the one with the goddess symbol actually has the god symbol on the other side. Genius!

Oh, but wait. This was a Book of Shadows swap, right? Well, check out the piece de resistance (I have no idea how to actually spell that)

My gorgeously upcycled BoS. It has some gorgeous feeling paper inside to write on.

Some of the gorgeous pages:

Gratuitous altar shot, so you can see that gorgeous cloth in use!

Thanks so much for being my swap partner, Mandy! I absolutely love everything. This was a really nice way to get back into swapping.

8  Re: Christmas Stocking Swap 7 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by dharma_rebel on: December 07, 2011 10:21:50 PM
I got my box from jennilocker yesterday! Wanna see my loot?

First up is my "stocking". She asked me if I'd be okay with a non-traditional stocking since she made me one last year. I totally trust her so of course I said yes, and I'm glad I did! Here is my "stocking" closed

And here, it is open and stuffed. You can see the full set of fine point sharpies that I ripped open before I remembered to grab the camera.

Did you know that I collect vintage luggage, Jennifer?
Check out this super awesome fair trade bag made in India!

The Sharpies again, a huge pack of embroidery floss, locally made candy, and a kazoo for my daughter from her daughter!

Goats milk soap, yummy smelling bath fizzy, salt scrub, head band, gnome note cards, and cute notebooks

Home canned pear butter from the pear trees in her yard, thank you notes, amazing fabrics, and a scarf that she received from participating in a breast cancer walk. I don't know if she knows, but there are several survivors in my family, so it really is special that she sent it to me.

Key fob that she says is a fail, but I say is rad 'cause it actually fits over my wrist! Also a couple handmade ornaments - an acorn and a wreath. She also sent me a bag chock full of acorns. I couldn't really get a good pic - kept getting a flash reflection of the bag, but they are ENORMOUS! We do not have acorns that big here in Washington.

A gorgeous necklace. Each bead was woodburned and it says my name. Plus, she even sent a little bit of her DNA with it so I can have a bunch of little jennilocker test tube babies to work in my sweatshoppe!

She also made me an apron with her VERY FIRST EMBROIDERY EVER! I feel so special that she gave it to me! I'm afraid to use the apron, because I don't want to get it dirty. Maybe just for doing laundry.

Thank you so much, Jennifer. You totally spoiled me. I love each and every thing. This was WAY more than a medium stocking. I hope you like what I sent half as much as I love what you sent!

I received on Saturday and I'm so sorry for the delay in posting pictures. Sick clingy kiddo. You know. Anyway I was totally spoiled by mikknits - check out my goodies!

first up is a french press cozy and hot pad to put it on. I love having something cute to keep my coffee warm!

Crocheted hot pads that coordinate with my kitchen perfectly.

lavender dryer sachets - upcycled from tee shirts!

I got 2 reusable bags, also upcycled from tee shirts. This is my favorite one all unrolled.

Muslin  bread bag and one of the reusable bags folded up. See the little elastic? It's attached to the bottom to hold the whole thing together. Simple and genius. I love it!

crochet face scrubbies.

reusable swiffer dusters

hat and hair clips for Marley

rainbow crochet slippers for me! They have such a thick sole. I've been wearing them for days!

gratuitous kid shot.

Thank you Michelle! I will get your package shipped tomorrow. So sorry for the delay!

Check out the contents of the super package I got from grimmscreed!

All types of fiber - colonial wool, merino and superwash merino, and a "mystery fiber" (possibly alpaca?) I am gonna have a blast learning to spin with all this (and DD goes to spring break camp all next week, so I have every morning to myself!)

Not to mention all of this yarn! I've already broken into it - knitting carrots for the easter bunnies roaming my house!

Thank you so much, grimmscreed! I finished something for you, but I'm thinking he either needs a friend, or some accessories. We'll see what I can come up with.  Wink
