bella, what's going to be made with the finished yarn? if it's going to be a wearable item, maybe card in a bit of wool? that way it has some elasticity.

I also have some dog fur to spin, I'm just at a loss about what to make with it! I wouldn't make a wearable item for another human (or creature) because dogs can be rather finicky about other dog scents. and that makes me super nervous! maybe if I wash it supremely well, and bathe the fur in essential oils, the pheromones will dissipate? haha... maybe...

has anyone else made anything will doggy furrr before? how did it hold up?
23  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: At what point do you need to get a Business License/Tax ID? on: December 18, 2010 03:20:31 PM
"Do I Need to Apply for a Vermont Business Tax Account? Any vendor selling items subject to the Vermont sales or use tax needs a Vermont Business Tax Account. This includes transient vendors coming into Vermont for short periods of time or vendors with no permanent Vermont address. You also need an account to receive exemption from the tax.

What is Taxable?
You must collect Vermont sales tax unless the sale is specifically exempted from tax by law. Examples of sales subject to tax are: Retail sales of tangible personal property - Any retail sale, lease or rental of tangible personal property in Vermont. Rental of equipment with an operator is exempt as a contract for personal services; however, the purchaser of the equipment pays tax at the time the equipment is acquired."

so, whatever you make, would be considered a "retail sale". how old are you? I'm not entirely sure, but I think there might be an age requirement to get a tax ID (I live in NY and got mine when I turned 18) so you might need to have your parents as "co-owners".

here is the website where I got the information. good luck!!!

lovely stuff, ladies!!! I really like the colours in "chronic".

my camera and I seem to be taking a break from our relationship, I think she just needs some time. I know I tend to overwhelm her sometimes...
27  New York / New York: South / Holiday Shopping Bazaar - Narrowsburg on: December 10, 2010 06:44:45 AM
hey there! it doesn't seem like anybody checks this, but I just wanted to share -

the event was set up by the Upper Delaware LGBT group,
the Gays of Sullivan County.
and all of the money made from donations will go to our local food pantries!
it should be a crazy good time!

I will be set up by the stage selling my handspun yarn, and handknit woolly-winter-art-wear!

wow, super consistent, perfect stripes, I would not have known that was handspun yarn! fabulous hat, what stitch is that?

nik, that looks comfy! I always find it interesting how some people are either knitters or crocheters, and the other craft just does not compute in their minds.

ohh enabling fun - I helped a knitter friend (who was so anti-crochet) learn crochet, and she pumped out four hats over the last week! proud Grin
