My friend/roommate/manager and I are having a private kegger at his club downtown.
So I decided to make something festive.
and I love ruffles.



I didn't make the belt, it's purchased.
but it's so cute, I have to wear it. 

the bottom is broadcloath, and the top is cotton or cotton blend I can't remember.
for the bodice of the dress I used the bodice pattern from SIMPLICITY 4127.
the rest I did without a pattern. allbymyself

I'm pretty new to stencilling, but I've been on a little binge.

and I'm terribly confused by the instructions for some reason

So my best friend is throwing a rave with a sort-of fairy, forest-esque theme and I'm supposed to help her with decor.

We were thinking of making some vines and stuff for the walls.

I need any direction I can get from you guys:

+ ideas on how to make vines/materials
+ any other decor ideas for the theme

so I made a skirt.



only the front is peated.

I cut the fabric about 11 inches tall.

and the waistband is about 2 inches.


but as it turns out the skirt is much too short.

I was thinking of just adding another waistband or something to give it length.

any suggestions? thanks.

I'm new to this whole belt concept.
I used to think they were silly, but now I've grown to love how cute they look

I'm going to a party saturday and I've made a cute purple plaid skirt
and purple leg warmers
so I wanted to make a wide belt to wear as well
it doesnt even have to be that wide.
I just want a cute belt that sits on my hips.
you know what I mean? =/

Sorry guys, I know you probably get a whole bunch load of these
(especially now)

usually, I'd make really sentimental gifts using photos and stuff
the only problem this year is that I take all my pictures digitally now
and I don't want to use up an entire ink cartridge for some collaging project
I would like my gifts to have a sentimental touch to them
since all my friends live in Toronto and I just moved north to Barrie
it would be nice to have that sentiment kindathing I guess.

I have to make gifts for my four best friends.
This isn't so much just looking for your ideas, but both your opinions on mine,
AND your suggestions for other gifts. (Keeping in mind, I'm a novice sewer)

#1 She's 19 and she lives on her own. She likes sewing, origami(sp?), art(surrrealism), painting, baking, . She's an autobody apprentice. I was thinking of getting her cute things for her apartment as well as making her a journal because I know she loves to write. I wanted to give her homemade soaps and things, but her skin is really sensitive.

#2 She's 17. She's a raver and she just started a company that will be holding its first rave next week. I thought about making her a scrapbook for the event, but I don't think I'd have enough content for it. I also thought of decorating a frame and putting a picture of her and I at her first rave. If I can get my hands on a cheap plastic cigarette case, I'll collage it for her. but other than that I'm out of ideas.

#3 He's 19. He's like my big brother.  He goes to art school. He wants to be a tattoo artist. He likes junk food. I was thinking of baking him a few different kinds of cookies or treats and putting them in boxes. That's, unfortunatly, the only thing I can think of for him.

#4 He's 19. He likes music, art, literture, cooking. He wants to see the world. He's thinking about opening a cafe one day.  I was thinking of making him a journal  and use fabric of a world map and if I can't find something like that use fabric of a scene (paris or something, you know?) and glue maps or something inside. I need more ideas for him


Orginally I wanted to make each of them the journal (http://www.livejournal.com/community/t_shirt_surgery/2245086.html) but each one would be personalized. (i.e. #3 - sketchbook #4 - travelling) but then they all get the same thing.
Although, I could always have a journal + another gift.
