1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / What do you do with all your unusable off cuts of fabric? on: August 31, 2012 12:07:31 AM
I up cycle old clothes into patchwork quilts and have accumulated a big bag of unusable bits like seams, stained or holey bits, collars and skinny bits that are too small to use for anything. What do you guys do with these bits? I live in the UK and am considering putting them in one of those charity bags that comes through the door and is collected by a textile recycler (I donate my wearable old clothes directly to a charity shop). What do you you guys do?
2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Washing new fabric - how? on: May 16, 2009 05:50:49 AM
I bought a pile of scraps from my local fabric warehouse and I want to wash them all before I make them into anything tidy.  Most of the scraps are 100% cotton with a print on them.  I have washed a few of them in the machine at about 40˚with regular 2 in 1 washing liquid for colours but they still came out a bit faded especially where they were creased in the machine.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
